The fanfare regarding his signing, unable to play a full game, makes a cameo appearance then has a hamstring, always injured, what is going on with Poku? Hope it's not another Taylor Richards type signing!

Well he’s injured. Surely we all know that. He’s not another Taylor Richard’s signing. The worry is he might be another Jake Clarke Salter signing. Hopefully they’ll get him sorted this time around.

He has had hamstring injuries for over a year now, missed 3 months with Peterborough last season requiring surgery. Hopefully he can get fit, but it is not beyond the realms of probability why we were able to sign him and others passed on the opportunity, if he is injury prone and with dodgy hamstrings.

Be really good if we found out when, approx... players will come back. Poku, Chair, Salter, Burrell, Varane will make a big difference to this side, is a long list but radio silence lately which is frustrating.

Lots of teams wanted to sign him so that's not the case.

However, he may well now be a permanent crock. Looks and feels a lot like Willock and JCS at the moment.

Well yes but that’s our market unfortunately. We don’t get good players unless there are some issues. Some work, some don’t. Attitude issues….Adel vs Richards. Injury issues……JCS. Not able to cope with English league, needs time to adapt etc….Madsen. Or we get cheaper players in league 1
like Burrell. Won’t always work out. Burrell has so far but doesn’t mean it will all the time.

We will on occasion be able to buy an Edwards or Kone…..still risk though. And we need to sell…sell sell!

Errrrmmmmm............ maybe, just maybe, that needs correcting to "Darragh MacAnthony and his merry men put it out there that.... Lots of teams wanted to sign him so that's not the case"

Poku was ALLEGEDLY on his way to Glasgow Rangers and due to him moving across the border Posh would've only got peanuts as he was out of Contract.
Moving within England meant a much bigger return for Posh due to Poku's age and rules that are different in England to Scotland. Whisper is we put a deal together worth £900k to Posh including various criteria - who knows?
Interest was drummed up quite nicely within England and there's no doubting the lad may have some talent but.... here's the rub.... get in quick or he's off to Jockland was apparently the mantra.

I'm sure a club like QPR that is reknowned for it's due dilegnece, thorough research and extensive medicals didn't fall for a smooth talking Irishman and an East End barra' bwoy Bazza and did indeed follow all it's thorough processes.
I'm sure my Posh source who told me we'd signed a potential crock was on the wind up and there's no big issue with the lads hammy's.
I'm sure we'll see all our favourite players avaiable soon............

Rack and stack those wide men.
The physio will see you now.

We seem to be buying "slightly damaged, but lightly used," from football's discount counter, and hoping the slight chip won't turn into a major crack.

I wonder if the FA could create an alternative competition for injured players? I am sure we would do well.

Then sending them out onto a skating rink. What could possibly go wrong?

No doubt, with our luck, we'd be struggling with players to fit and uninjured to play!

Been mentioned already about the question marks around a fee of only £900k for the league one player of the year. Whilst other league one players going for 5 or 6 times that.

Why is that ?

Might not be connected to his injury problems at all .
But it might .

His contract was expired and any money was compensation due to development, the fee would have been millions otherwise. Rewind to the summer and we were talking about how impressive that Poku had already played 220+ games before the age of 23. He's been very unlucky this season and hopefully can overcome this but there seems to be a bit of rewriting of history in this thread

No there isn’t .

People are rightly asking questions about an asset who has barely kicked a ball.
He was ‘unlucky’ last season too, remember ?

Every time I see "Slightly Wonky Potatoes," "Slightly Wonky Sweet Peppers" and "Slightly Wonky Cucumbers" on sale at half price in Waitrose, I get reminded of our recruitment policy.

Why are they half the price of the real thing?

I recently bought some Poku Peppers and some Clark-Salter Cucumbers ...... but they didn't last more than a few days in the fridge.

That's why I buy them, use them or lose them.

Suggesting his fee was decreased because of a supposed injury ridden career was a decent start as it's completely wrong. He's had one injury in his career before which was the Hamstring last season but still played 31 games, source below.

As Nix pointed out, we all know he's out with an aggravated hamstring injury. We all know how difficult it can be to rehabilitate these types of injuries, this isn't anything new, just see Chris Willock. If you think it's just an us issue you can take a read of the below article talking about the increase in the quantity and duration of these injuries. Even right now Stoke have 3 of these.

“We all know how difficult it can be to rehabilitate these types of injuries”

Part answering my question.
Can’t speak for anyone else, I personally am not saying it’s an ‘us’ issue.

Not really suggesting anything either , just asking the question that maybe Peterborough saw us coming again?
I don’t know that .
But I , nor you , know how bad that hamstring tear was last season .
Bad enough to miss a large portion of the season and need an op.
His contract being up partly explains the Lower value fee of course.

But no one is re writing history as you over dramatically put it .

Just fans wanting to see their marquee summer signing able to play more than a half of football this season. Maybe that’s too much to ask ?

I can see why we took a gamble on Poku, hopefully it works out for him at QPR but at the moment it is not looking too promising on him being available in the near future.

Willock now banging in the goals for Cardiff on a regular basis.

Evidence would suggest a long recovery period for damaged hamstrings is a must, unfortunately.

Silly question. We don’t have players out for a game or two then come back ready to play. They disappear into a black hole never to be seen again until it’s just Paul Smyth and Cook left.
