Rangers v Cardiff Match Thread 09:59 - Mar 4 with 16098 viewsDieByYourSide

Feels good to lose my match thread virginity. Tough task today against an in form side, not made easier with the absence of Lua Lua, Freeman and possibly Conor still. Couple of six pointers down the bottom of the league today so someone will be picking up points - a draw wouldn't be the worst result in the world but I'll go for 2-1 Rangers. COYRs.

Poll: And it's hi ho

I'm surprised that Wszolek and Manning are on the bench... i wonder if they're not fully fit.

A moment for those of the '67 team that have gone before us.

Lovely. This club is unrecognisable from the imposter of much of the last decade or so.

Applause for those that have gone. Thanks men.

Did Hoilett get a minute's indifference? It would be a shame if not, he's earned it.

Meanwhile Briantree are one up at home to Wrexham according to Sky Sports News.

I like Braintree. There's something very Tolkienesque about them.

Wait, it's 1-1 already. Presumably the Gargoyles or Hobbits of Wrexham have wrong-footed the big Braintrees.

Meanwhile Martin Ling on co-comms with his East London accent is giving me brainfreeze with his machine-gun clipped delivery. 'E drops more letters of the 'phabet than a Cockney Market Auctioneer on Speedballs.

To be fair, Manning was probably due a rest soon.

Whittingham and Pilkington both on the 'diff bench. Thought they'd be two of their better players.

Martin Ling, for a man who drops letters with rare abandon, is still insisting on calling our Aussie by his favourite elongated version of Massimo Lou-longo.

And - still - the two of them are confused by Hall's role.

Must be confusing him with Adam Luollana.

Yep, I think Manning's omission is the easiest to explain. He's gone from very little football to being a regular (and enthusiastic) player in (c) The World's Toughest League.

His omission may be just as simple as sports science saying his on the verge of breakdown or injury. Even in our local amateur GAA club we use plate and bleep tests to decide whether a player needs to step out.

Pavel's omission is the one I'm curious about.

Meanwhile, Wash hits the bottom of the post with a shot.

Corner and a follow-up cross for Rangers CTN.

There's some decent players on our bench today. Could be very useful against a tiring Baadiff defence in the later part of the game.

I think we're going to need them. Granted that I only have comms but there's precious little to report so far and we're nearly at half-time. We've wasted the big start that home teams have to their advantage, the crowd seem sated and pleasantly pi$$ed like a Christmas crowd and we seem to be lacking the madness that we've had recently.

The bench may be pour best bet here.
