Charlton v QPR 31/10/81 and 29/12/82 15:44 - Aug 14 with 1669 viewsQPsyR

After this weeks disgraceful debacle that I'm still fkn fuming about....tho Seny has helped lol

Haven't seen these since being there but we had big turn outs at both especially 82/83 NTO that year lol

Think both years it was their biggest crowd of the season... more than v the fkn Scum who finished below us both years just as a reminder

Remember that save from Burridge in 81-82 and when they pulled it back to 2-1 the clock over the pen nxt to the covered end didn't seem to move for hours.
Very lively on the East Terrace in the 82-83 game lol

82-83

81-82

Incidently this was the same day....

Rotherham 6 Chelsea NIL Hallelujah...

Great memories. Was standing up the back of the big terrace on the far side for the 81-82 game. That Burridge save still lives in the memory as the greatest save I’ve ever seen. A thirty yarder which took a big deflection which didn’t take much pace off the ball and Budgie somehow manages to twist in midair to adjust his body to then be able to tip the ball over the bar.

The 82-83 game. We scored our second just after half time. Beers still pretty full and in hands and as I went up to celebrate knocked my brothers beer out of his hands and cue a slow motion turning pint of beer ascending before reaching its zenith before landing squarely on the guy in front! We did offer to swap programmes!

I remember both games well having attended them. In recent meetings we have had a nasty habit of letting Charlton score in the last minute which has happened three times at least. It was good Seny's last minute goal helped provide a tonic after the cup exit.

I remember that Burridge save too, in my hazy memory I thought it was the penalty but then I saw this and he made that look easy....I'm gonna have to watch the full 90 mins to see that :-)

Ha Ha and the hipsters thought they started the throwing beer trend :-)

Was great days when the scruffy red trouser wearing wrong uns (4057 - 1991) and the muggy nomarks (3918 - 1987) piped down a bit unlike now

Save was at around 37.50

And if anyone never saw what a classy defender Glenn Roeder was watch at around 27.00 when he wins the ball in his own penalty area under pressure from a couple of Charlton players, brings the ball out, nutmegs another and then sends a diagonal right in the path of Clive Allen.
