New ground for me, I’m staying in the premier inn by the station, will get an uber from there to the ground, will probably walk back after, it’s just over 2 miles, anyone know if it’s an “easy” walk or would I be better off getting an Uber back as well?

Staying the same place. Surprised to hear it's as far as 2 miles, we've always walked it and it's downhill all the way on the way back.

Cheers Clive one of my sons and his GF are staying there as well, will probably walk it, currently off work with a sprained ankle so hoping it would have healed by then, otherwise it will be a cab.

Fair play. There’s loyalty and there’s Blackburn away on a Wednesday night in November loyalty. Best hobby in the world.

It's not though is it.
It's right up there with golf.
It gets you out the house and then ruins your day.

@Loftboy, get yourself a meat and potato pie from one of the street vendors outside the ground, they are truly gorgeous.

Cheers Ted, if they’re anything like the ones they used to do at Maine Road then I’m definitely in.

Trying to imagine what a cold winters night in Blackburn would be like.

I think I’d wear a balaclava, back to front, to and from the ground so I wouldn’t have to witness the surroundings. Better still, if it had no street lights, I could wear my balaclava the right way round and still never witness the local delights.

Is it on the telly?

As I work Sunday, Monday and Tuesdays, Wednesday awaydays are a lot easier for me than Saturday awaydays!

You were threatening to give that one a swerve. No stamina you youngsters.
You can't get out of it that easily.

The one day I went there it was minus 8 in leafy Bucks on the way to the station. Won't say what it was like when we got to Blackburn other than all the snoods in M&S were sold out. The walk warmed us up though.

I went to every away game last season and Blackburn was right down there with the worst experiences.

Having to get up there for 12.30 probably accounted for this although the performance (or lack of it) also contributed.

I am picking and choosing my away trips this season.

But I haven’t yet completely ruled this out. Idiot.

If we take anything close to that it’ll be a phenomenal effort. Did the midweeks at Hull and Boro last season which aren’t the sort of distances I normally do midweek and was surprised at how many made the trip (700-ish at a guess).

All the midweeks being on Sky must have had some impact. Hope for those travelling it’s the lower tier as that upper tier is grim.

My only visit to Blackburn was for a 12.30ko a couple of years ago,and it involved a 5.30 train which got to Blackburn just in time for a quick stroll to the ground and a 5 minute pint before the usual 1-0 defeat. We were in the upper tier, even though the whole stand below us was empty.
Not one of my best away days.

It's interesting watching our away support this year.
Numbers holding up by and large, but there was zero atmosphere at Sheff Utd on Saturday.
Three of our group did every game last year and are now hardly travelling at all.

I suppose inevitably that might pick up if results improve. But there could just be away game fatigue with basically most grounds being familiar to everyone.

The sell outs / near sell outs at home are somewhat more mystifying given how crap we've been at LR over a few seasons now!

I understand that a little bit more. We've got an old school ground and relatively affordable prices. Everything around us is some new space-ship style stadium and/or tickets are extortionate. Fulham were looking for £100 to sit in the side stand and watch them play Wolves. Tottenham wanted £58-70 to watch them walk over Copenhagen. Plus, no VAR.

Yeah that is true - and coming out of the Southampton game last week there was a bunch of Dutch behind us, assume they were Alkmaar fans in town for their game with Palace.

There were a few German fans in the White Horse for the Ipswich game, and 1 was even staying in London for the Southampton game too.
