Occasionally at a match, there are moments when you know something changes.
Today it wasn't the goals, the assists, or the way we set up. It came about 30 mins in and we started singing "Backwards and sideways, everywhere we go..." There was a clear impact. Players started looking up and forward and seemed to be avoiding passing back. I'd love to state it was the fans that forced the change, but we improved from that point on. [Post edited 16 Mar 11:09]

There was a moment in the 1st half when QPR won a free kick just inside the Leicester half and somehow the ball ended up going back to Walsh. That might have led to the backwards and sideways song. | | | |

Backwards and sideways feels like the inevitable retreat to 'back to basics' after being smashed 4 in a row, attempt a forward pass low in confidence and it gets interspted that could be another game over so i somewhat get the tentativeness. But whatâs frustrating is when the forward pass is clearly on and we still donât take it.
Players like Morgan and Madsen usually look to get it forward when the option is on, Varane and Hayden most often cant when it counts. Though players have to move & show they want it too, which is not always the case and leads to going backwards.
Thats why ball carriers like Poku & Chair change the dynamic when on the pitch. It doesnât always come off but at least the intent is positive and it pushes the team up the pitch. |  | | |

Often starts (short back and side) with one of the defenders gesticulating about lack of options - this time Edwards decided to do something about it instead of complaining and Vale duly took the chance.
