In reality we only conceded 50 goals in 41 games which doesn't look so bad. The overall total has been exaggerated from conceding 20 goals in just four games to Coventry, Southampton, Ipswich and Middlesbrough. The number of home defeats again is troubling as well as the defending if we ever want to challenge the top half of the league. |
If grandma had wheels she'd be a bike. We didn't just lose 7-1 at Coventry and you put that down to we caught the best team in the league on a bad day. We conceded five at Southampton. Two teams have come to Loftus Road and scored four apiece. In the last year we've lost 7-1, 5-0, 5-0, 4-0, 4-1.
Ah well, they're all in the top six.
Well, I'm afraid Christian went on a podcast in the March international break and said one of his key improvement indicators was how much better we've looked against the top six this year than last.
It's not right. It's not acceptable.

With one game to go we have won 25 points on the road which is the lowest total since we got 21 in 2018/19 (McClaren)
On the plus side we won more points at home than we have since Warbs last season.

We’ve only had one other season since that 2015 relegation where our top scorer has scored more than 11 goals, that was 2019/20 when Hugil & Wells both got 15.
Our longest run without a win was 5 games, (might be 6 after Saturday) but even if we do fail to win at Ipswich, 6 games would be our joint lowest number of games without a win since 2013/14 season. So a lot better at getting out of bad runs than previous years.
Our Average attendance for home games was the 3rd highest since relegation from the Prem in 2015. 1st is 16122 in 2023/24, then 15994 in 2015.16 and 15991 this season.
We had the most debuts in a season (17) since the 2016/17 season which was also 17 although 7 of those who made their debut have not played since.
Joe Walsh got the most Clean Sheets (4) which is the lowest number for a keeper since the 2019/20 season when both Lumley and Kelly got 3 clean sheets each. As a comparison Nardi got 9 last season and Begovic 13 the season before. |  | | |

The Walsh figure is a bit misleading.
We've had ten clean sheets in the league this season, they've just been spread about a bit. |  | | |
