....of the DNA test that determines your origen? I've considered it, especially since my mate found out he was riddled with North African ancestry that he had not an inkling of.

Unusual.

I've been told once you have some North African inside you then you NEVER forget about it.

Is this a rather subtle riddle about the theologian who castrated himself?

I never thought I'd see the day that third century Alexandrian theology would make an appearance on LFW. Kudos, sir.

[spoilsport alert]

These tests don't really tell you anything. Everyone is related by more shared dna to everyone else alive now than they are they are to their ancestors by inherited dna. You really can't tell very much about ancestry by your dna.

I think it's more to do with the recent God thread and that this is an attempt to now ridicule the whole Adam and Eve theory.

My folks came from our part of West Cork for at least 300 years but even so I would expect like may around our place to have 5-10% North African, Basque, Breton and other DNA due to millennia of trading between us and them.Plus there has to be at least some flouting of the marital vows somewhere along the line.

I'd love to do it.

According to the Smithsonian we share 98.8% DNA with chimps, 70% with slugs and (apparently) 50% with bananas - but hopefully less than 1% with JT.

Once we realised my paternal great great great grandfather was an Evans from North Wales who migrated to Ireland in the early 1800s that was enough of a shock without digging any further back in time.
