20 or so of us in a minibus up to Sheffield. Down in the Brook House when we got back. One of the best days of my life

This was indeed a wonderful, wonderful day.

I was only 14 at the time, so at that age where everything feels SO INTENSE. The run in to that season seemed to take forever, everytime won won, so did Bristol City, we just seemed to match each other week after week (that's how it felt anyway).

I remember being at Ashton Gate and being gutted when we lost to them. Then the day at Plymouth too when they did the title against us and all the tension of knowing we had 2 weeks, and 2 games we had to win coming up.

The release when that third went in. God bless Chris Carr. Finally got to sing "The R's Are Going Up!" for real with 5 minutes left, only to not be able to 'cos I was crying too much. What a day..! The first time in my QPR supporting life I'd seen us achieve something. You never forget your first time!

Great day out-shame about their "supporters".

yeah. before the last home match, on the phone to my mates, "get us a ticket", "Yeah, yeah".
After the game, get a ring "Fvcking going up!". "Did you get me a ticket?". "Nah, didn't leave the pub".
So a couple of us were in their end. Nice. Really, really racist. Guessed we were Rangers, gave us a bit and gave up when we showed we weren't going to be intimidated - didn't jump about when we scored, mind.
Furlong getting so much vile abuse, when he scored it was just fvcking beautiful. The way he handled himself with all he was getting, so much respect for the man.
Walking out at the end, where the home fans filtered alongside the R's, got recognised by some mates. I did give a wave, much to the chagrin of those around me.
Stayed in Liverpool that night, train back with Oldham's scummy firm, "QPR cvnt", more fun. Then some drugged up scouser, helpfully escorted and left on the train by plod, started on some poor woman on the train. Even more fun as i got involved and f'cked him off. made him sit opposite me for the rest of the journey so he couldn't freak any more women out, the perfect f'cking travel companion.
Got chucked out of some club in liverpool!

Well that was the most enjoyable several minutes in some time. I'm crying like a baby again.

What a wonderful team that was. Happy days.

What a day that was! I'm not sure how I feel about Sheffield Wednesday giving score updates from The Robins' match during our game. It did nearly cause a riot because the home fans started taunting our lot, but perhaps the original intention was well meaning, to keep away fans up to date.

The newspaper I read, The Observer (don't light those torches, l come in peace) had Gino's flashy, last ditch tackle as the pivotal moment and headline.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Thanks for that, it took me right back to that day.

I forgot how good 'Furs' goal was.

Also what a pleasure it was to shut up their fans and announcer.

Went up on Mel’s coach from the Greenwood. Couple of early beers then stopped at some random pub somewhere south of Sheffield. Unfortunately couldn’t get everyone out of the pub, so we were running very late. Eventually found the ground and started to get off but OB weren’t happy, but we did get in just after kick off. Unbelievable atmosphere inside, Wednesday doing their best to ruin the day. Final whistle went and some kids got on the pitch only for Wednesday to start laying in to them. Outside much of the same, we were waiting for the coach near a pub and running battles with them for ages. Then back to the Greenwood to celebrate.

RIP: Sniffer, Doug and Pat

What a day. Remember nearly every car ,van, mini bus ,coach, I passed on the motorway had something QPR hanging off it. Well pi**ed off with Wednesday fans cheering when Brizzle scored.

Wednesday fans were scum that day. i was in the away end with dad and son so shouldnt complain too much i suppose.

Poor old dear departed dad jumped up when we scored, i sat still with my son. He got balloons burst by his ears, slagged off etc, and the racist language, bloody hell it was ripe.

just before our third i told my son to go to the loo "i dont want to go to the toilet dad'!, says he, and i quietly explained why, and that i'd meet him at the bottom of the stairs.

He went, i followed 2 mins later and met him just in time for us both to see our third goal, and leg it to the tram and back to meadowhall.

35 mins later, while waiting for the ex to come back from shopping i celebrated with 2 rangers fans on the upper level car park for a few minutes. If your on here guys, thanks once again for indulging me!

Doesnt seem like 16 years, but when you think of it, it does with all the shyte thats gone on since.

Great day, shytty home fans, got it stuffed up their northern jacksies.
Urrrrrrrssss.

You mean you were in the home end?

I remember it well, what a day, what a game, and for once,a huge Rangers following and actually did the job.

One thing I do remember was when (I think) Bristol City) went 1 up (still 0-0 then with our game)

Think it fired everybody up further and made it sweeter, but to be fair they did alllow celebrations afterwards.

Was on the coach and when we evetually got back, everyone went home...

A wonderful, wonderful day. The support and atmosphere at Leppings Lane End was absolutely sensational. Did not stop from the first whistle. Watching anxiously at the Bristol City scoreline - but we knuckled down and played our football and thoroughly deserved to win. Furlong's swivel and half volley to score the second took the roof off. Took my youngest son with me that day. He had only ever been to Fulham as an away ground previously. He could not believe the size of the Hillsborough stadium. I told him that it was a World Cup venue in 1966. How long did the celebrations go on for when the boys came back onto the pitch after the match - just beautiful !

It was indeed a wonderful, emotional day. Never to be forgotten. However, felt so bad for DT when I heard the dreadful story of the stewards not letting him in.

Just occurred to me that at some of the most important games we've had we haven't been wearing our famous blue and white hoops. Sheff Weds, Cardiff playoff final, FA Cup final, Bobby Zamora day, League Cup final v WBA.

But.. we were in blue and white hoops in some high profile game in 1986. Maybe it's better if we don't wear em on significant days

Yes but we lost in Cardiff - (hence Hillsborough 12 months later).

I remember us lot felt the white kit in Cardiff didn't seem right somehow, and so it proved...
