Be interesting to hear Hill's views on that defeat and possible defensive recruitments. Should we actually see a manager's interview this time.

Didn't recognise him. Diminutive and got beaten once, but then put a couple of decent tackles in. Might be worth another look

Matches thread: Chorley and Halifax. on 20:35 - Jul 18 by ChaffRAFC | Unreal isn't it. Its as if they dont want other clubs to know he's available. Like they wouldn't know. Jesus wept. All cloak and dagger stuff. Its pathetic. Anyone any idea who B trialist is at Halifax? |
Just to add to the mystery... Tannoyman at Victory Park, obviously auditioning for Chorley FM, announced our first goalscorer as "A TRIALIST". He announced our second scorer as "OLIVER RATHBONE", even though it was actually the same bloke who scored the first one. Finally, he announced the third goal being scored by "JACK REDSHAW", who looked suspiciously like "A TRIALIST". Pick the bones out of that!

First visit to Chorley and enjoyed it, old fashioned little ground with a good social club and excellent snack bar. Really friendly staff also. A young Rochdale team had to withstand a pretty smart opening quarter from Chorley but we slowly came into the game and started to take over the possesssion. It was 100mph at times with tackles flying in but in general Rochdale looked more composed on the ball. The defence looked pretty solid with the young lad playing centre half alongside Canavan doing particularly well. Redshaw looked sharp up front and swept home from 6 yards out to put the Dale one nil up shortly before half time. It WAS Redshaw, most Dale fans know him, you could disguise him as Groucho Marks and stick a fat cigar in his gob, but we'd still know Jack (everybody in the ground knew him). Second half we started with the same team but upped the tempo and our passing was much crisper. The defence was rarely troubled and the couple of half chances that came Chorley way were competently dealt with by the youngster playing in the Dale goal. Redshaw applied two more smart finishes to complete his hat trick and Davies who completed the full 90 minutes added the fourth from close range. All in all a good performance with special mention to Redshaw who showed a great first touch, speed off the mark and also his finishing prowess. Forget his daft celebrations a couple of years ago, wipe the slate clean and let's get behind the lad if he puts pen to paper. Andy Cannon was very good in midfield, loads of energy and a stand out player for me. The young lad at centre half did pretty well and should be one for the future but not just yet( name not known but maybe Ward?) . Reece Brown looked sluggish and a bit careless with his distributions at times. Davies doesn't look fit yet and short on stamina, probably as a result of his injury at the end of last season, credit to him though because he completed the full match and it will have done him good. Overall it was a good night and decent performance against a robust Chorley, the score line indicates it was a piece of cake but we worked hard for the win. 👠[Post edited 19 Jul 2017 0:07]

Anyway, the main issue sounds to be the shorts - reports say they have a navy trim. Update: black appears to be the verdict. Everybody stand down. [Post edited 18 Jul 2017 20:49]

The actual stripe is the same colour blue as the shirts & it has a black mesh over the top of it giving the navy appearance.

He looked a decent prospect, still plenty of growing to do in the physical sense but he got stuck in and looks like one for the future. Kearney on the left hand side also looked decent, comfortable and composed when he had the ball and he's a big unit for his age. It's a good standard the National League North and Chorley lost to Halifax in the play off final so they are no mugs, the kids did well last night.
