Give over. Your back 3 have had 90% of your possession. Ole.

Yeah because your players resemble Sherwood forest

We’ve been playing the same all season. Yet your fans ridicule it. Remind me, who are qtop again?

Carlisle have been tactically clever by making sure our right hand side has less space than normal. What has been the biggest issue for Dale is our passing has been off. The problem for the first 15-20 mins was we didn’t calm it down and keep it at the back.

Still winning though and as much as Moss limits our options going left, it’s him who is the difference.

Goal Moss. We needed that. Come on the Dale!

Happy to be a goal ahead but it's an awful spectacle. No flowing football on show so far. However, we are winning so the tactics are justified.

Come on Dale.

Very cagey half. They look more than happy to sit which seems a bit stupid as their number 7 looks lively. It might open up a bit in the second half.

Not the greatest of specticals but business was taken care of. They were so negative. No sure Whatmuff had a save to make.

Very different game again, but those 3 pts just as vital as last couple of games and it takes all kinds of victories to finish top. At the final whistle, the celebration was every bit as emphatic

Hughes came with a plan and on another day it might've worked but he can't complain when you do that and have the points pulled from under you. Very well done Dale, JM and everyone who worked towards us staying in pole position

No, don’t think he did. They set up to frustrate us, we played our normal game and trusted each other to get a result. Individually we probably know we weren’t at our best, but you can’t be all the time. Sticking to the plan won the game, let the crowd do their Oles as we pass it about. It’s the basis of all our success.

The Moss selection paid off (knew I’d be wrong!). We can all question, but today has shown again why the constant changes we do make deserve total backing.

One of the best things today was turning the Carlisle (sarcastic) Oles into our own, winning Oles

Eels was immense today. Had a real handful in Armstrong and won that battle.

Carlisle had better of the first 30 minutes, but their whole game plan. was stop us, cut off our angles, really well planned, played, but it limited their attacking play. Theirs was the ‘break in numbers ‘ strategy and but for a superb Moss last ditch tackle, it may well have worked.

As first half wore on, we got a bit more into our stride. Goal was a bonus, 0-0 at half time would have been fair.

Second half i thought we were better, without being fluent. We had all the chances, Hendo nearly getting a trademark lob possibly the best one.

I would assume most Carlisle fans will say ‘York are much better’ but i would say comparisons are hard to make.

We have the best defence in the league. We nullify the opposition and have enough up top to grab a goal or two. We have scored in 27 out of 28 games this season. York batter teams with powerful attacking play. Very different ways to crack a nut.

In a game they had to win Hughes sacrificed attacking mentality. That’s how highly he regards Dale i would say.

Absolutely - for me that was the performance of the season. Once we calmed down (as 442 noted), stopped attempting wonder through balls and played our possession game, we simply dampened their spirits and nullified every one of their threats.

Moss and Barlow were supreme, East & Gilmour were marked out of the game but we found a set piece way to go one up and from then for me there was never a doubt about the result.

That for me was a performance that wins leagues, a performance of champions.

And another clean sheet. The defence has been magnificent…only Arsenal have conceded fewer goals than us.

Carlisle haven't laid a glove on us over both fixtures.

We go again on Wednesday, 100 points isn't going to be enough between us and York - 112 might just be enough to do it 🤷.

We’ve had a lot of very good defenders over the years, including some who have gone onto play at the highest level, but for me this is collectively the best defence we have had as a team in my time watching the club.

They never, ever look concerned.

Could somebody tell the Solihull manager that the squad that is better than Dale’s (Morecambe) need to win their remaining 16 games, and Dale to lose their remaining games, for the seasiders to be level on points with us at the end of the season.

Could be 3 teams with 100+ points this season. Scunny having a belting season also.

Give Carlisle the credit they deserve, they came with a plan to stifle us and it worked for a majority of the game. Carlisle have to some good players and it showed in the way the never gave us time on the ball and it did help that we passed the ball across the defence, whilst seeking a gap to open us the Carlisle team, which slowed the game.

As somebody else as mentioned, I cannot think of Whatmuff having a shot to save.

It may not have be the best game to watch, but a win is a win.

Its mad how we all see the same things yet think very differently, im a big fan of his usual creativity and movement but thought Barlow was poor and hardly touched the ball from where I was sat. We retained the ball very well but the execution of the final ball forwards was poor and under hit in the first half handing possession over, a solid performance against a decent side that I didn't feel offered nowhere near enough dangerous moments towards our net.
Massive 3 points

James, would be interested in your take on how we're doing

You became a fan when we doing well, then the slide began into non-league. Did you think of giving up? Now we're riding high and looking towards regaining our long-held status, what are your thoughts?

Some overreacted when he returned to the side last season and struggled at first. Some kept calm and saw the bigger picture. That’s football fans everywhere for you.

Patience is a virtue whether it’s passing it amongst the defence as some Ole/groan, or if it’s giving people time to improve and implement a process that is visibly developing over time.

Another alternative of course is to sign loads of strikers and hope for unsustainable, undeserved promotion parties at Tranmere that could destroy a club.
