Great win for Dale in a really open game - and Mani is definitely back. Some great saves from Whatmuff too. I know it shouldn't but that 90 +13 min winner for York feels like 2 points dropped. Hartlepool are saying it was very soft too.

While I’d agree after the fact, with two minutes to go we were all hoping we’d see the game out. Hartlepool score, we spend the remaining time in Forest Green’s half with no concerns.
Then York get another. But it could quite easily have gone the other way, so we have to hope York will stumble one of these days.

We benefited from late goals at Solihull and against Southend at home recently and while it was a kick in the balls to hear about the York penalty we go again 'weather permitting' on Saturday. Am I right in thinking that York can 'only' get to 101 points now?

York are on track for 105 pts
We're on track for 115 pts
I suspect neither side will achieve those totals, but York can afford to drop far fewer points than us

Does everyone agree that the pitch investment is now really playing its part? Tonight's game would surely have been off with the old one - adding to any match congestion later in the season. It is all helping massively.

As you rightly alude to DDB, it isn't logical to think of it as 2 points dropped in any way, not least the fact we didn't drop any points. What happens in other games is completely out of our control. If York had gone 3-0 up and conceded 2 in the last minute, it wouldn't have felt like 2 points dropped, so neither should this. Maybe York scored 10 disallowed goals during the game. I don't know or care. It's what we do on the pitch that I care about and we are flying.

A good win against a side that caused us problems, more so than Carlisle or Borehamwood did. That said, they did have the ref firmly on their side second half. So, we've done the double over FGR, Borehamwood and Carlisle. Impressive. Someone told me after the game that York's penalty was as soft as they come, someone else told me York have had 13 penalties this season compared to our 4. Conspiracy? Who cares, we're top of the league with 2 games in hand. Brilliant work by Jim and the lads.
Tell you what: if York don't go up this season I bet that 2 up automatically out of this division will get rushed througb. If we don't make it there will just be a shrug of the shoulders.
The worm of time turns not for the cuckoo of circumstance.

We've scored late goals also, that's football. Both York and ourselves are two good teams, over the season the one finishing top of the pile will have done it on merit. No point worrying about it, what will be will be. Another great win, FGR are a technically good team.
I wasn't there last night but there was a moment during the most crucial part of the game when the strength of this squad really hit home...the triple substitution made by McNulty. To withdraw three players of the quality of Mani, East and Tobi against FGR and then go on and win the game speaks volumes. The manager deserves credit for that, in fact the way he is utilising the squad is great to see because it's not easy keeping everybody happy.
He's a rapidly improving manager that has benefitted with having some help around him and owners who have supported him both on and off the pitch. That new pitch is proving something of a lucky charm for us also. We can now actually look forward to the game taking place with confidence, it's a very strange feeling.

We can go all the way with this team because of the high energy for the 90 minutes, the subs that complement or improve the quality of our game, a threat and dangerous. Jim's got some team players in; recruitment has been spot on; decisions, I'm sure, helped by staff, Taylor and Dunn. Long way to go, but its looking great at the moment.

Fully agree with that. Having a quick scout around the York social medias there are also a few concerns that their players are showing signs of weariness and look tired. The monotony of keep chasing Rochdale seems to be catching up on the players was one comment made. Also concerns about Stones and the workload he his being asked to do, he looks knackered. Our two games in hand loom large over York , we don't lose many and win most. Every time we win it intensifies the pressure on York, it's like Chinese water torture..the drip, drip, drip effect.

What a run.of home games since our return to the COA and whilst i hadn't been able to make many games so far this season, i was able to take the last four in
Fans are returning, the results impossible to ignore if you have Dale in your blood. It's not always been pretty but after a lifetime of mainly inconsistency and disappointment, "pretty" doesn't matter: winning does. The determination is there for all to see and there's an occasional flourish to put the icing on the cake
We're scoring early, we're scoring late, we're scoring when it really matters. Our crowds are now patient, we owe that to the Ogdens as well as the team. For the remainder of this campaign, though i don't think i'll be able to make every game it's a case of: if you can, Just Be There
Going through 2026 with a maximum return so far in the league deserves the highest praise for the manager, his staff and every one of those players. To put a run like this together at this stage of the season, with the pressure that comes with being at the top, says an awful lot about the character within the group.
There’s still a long way to go and nothing has been won in February - nobody sensible is taking anything for granted - but beating four of the main promotion challengers during this spell is nothing short of incredible. These aren’t routine fixtures being ticked off.
It also perhaps serves as a reminder that stability, patience and a bit of perspective can go a long way in football. Managers need time and backing to build something. Right now, the evidence of that is there for everyone to see.

Yes we've scored late goals but I don't remember ever being gifted a 103rd min penalty winner given at the last corner of the game for pushing. I'm just annoyed because we had a little bit of breathing space snatched away from us - that's Yorks 3rd penalty in 3 games 🤔

Some appreciation form the FGR Board - "Oh for a defence like Rochdale, that marsalls itself forward and back into shape in a nano second -like an army of stormtroopers in Star Wars circa A New Hope ..."
4 in the last 5 games too for them. Stupid from Hartlepool defending set piece just dragging a player to the floor who is nowhere near a high looping ball. Can't argue with that like Saturday's dive.
For us, I like him and there's a decent player there, but Burger is really frustrating throwing himself to the floor all the time instead of just releasing the ball. Obviously there is minimal contact he isn't just diving but sometimes he could just pass the ball and not break up our own play or lose the ball because the ref doesn't buy it.

Could be quite a clash of styles when Forest Green entertain Carlisle on Saturday. FGR certainly looked mobile and skilful last night and there was a spell, immediately after their equaliser, when they had us on the rack. There was a lot a stoppage time due to running repairs to the linesman and perhaps Dale were glad to hear the halftime whistle. I noticed a slight change in emphasis after the restart; their number six had been controlling things from the back and it was noticeable that in the second half that East was harassing and harrying him every time he got the ball in his own half which interrupted their flow. All credit to BJ for that. Incidentally did anyone else think that the ball had gone out of play immediately before their goal? It was nice to see Dale ripping into them from the first minute and there could have been a couple of other goals as well. Moss has been a revelation recently. I initially had him down as an outright defender plugging a gap on the left but he’s definitely grown into that wingback role. I bet there will be a few sore bodies this morning and it’s a short turnaround before the long trip to Somerset tomorrow. I wonder if one or two may be rested eg Rodney with Tuesday’s match in mind?

Not so, we don’t have to hope York stumble. The reverse is literally the case.
To the game itself. Who knew Dan Moss had that pass in his locker, brilliant. Mani finishes it great. Also Mani does like that tap in with the heel part of his foot. BH and Carlisle away and his first last night. How did we win all those games in his absence, superb when you think about it. Callum Perry in the highlights makes a mistake and FGR didn’t capitalise. He is learning fast which can only benefit us and Coventry. When it comes to substitutions Jim is developing balls of steel. I wouldn’t have had the nerves to make some of them. Taking East of while Harvey is sitting on a yellow shows his faith in Harvey’s professionalism. On to Yeovil and who will Jim decide to rest by not asking them to get on the coach. For me both The G’s Gordon and Gilmour deserve a rest. But I think Jim would have to fight them to stop them getting on the coach. My other question is will he play young Perry every game, injury permitting, until the end of the season? If he were ours I think not, but he is a loanee so I can see him doing it. Great days these. We HAVE to be 4 points ahead of them going into the final game.
