| Spare ticket 16:37 - Apr 20 with 6244 views | jfmolyneux | Lifelong Dale fan here, 35 and been living in London for 10 years, been to a fair few of the southern away games this season (Woking, Southend, Sutton, Brackley). Wasn’t quick enough when the tickets were released, so on the off chance that anyone ends up with a spare ticket going for Saturday I’d be eternally grateful! | | | | |

| Spare ticket on 15:35 - Apr 21 with 5616 views | WhitworthDale | Has any explanation been given for why the remaining seats in the Wilbutts Lane stand are not available to Dale fans? Why are we not putting 2k more him fans on the gate? | | | |

It's already been explained on here many times. The York fans are having the top half of the stand - where you gonna put Dale fans? In the bottom half? 🤔

| Spare ticket on 18:53 - Apr 21 with 5449 views | Nerazzurri | That has been explained but it’s not a good enough reason. Could have been split like it was v Darlington with zero issues. We’ve had a rare chance to sell every single seat & get 7,000 fans in supporting us & have chosen to leave 2000 empty seats. | |

Whilst I agree, after the Carlisle game they’d come up with a plan that involved keeping away fans away from the first few rows, as well as central to the stand away from each Dale end of the ground. Against Darlington (and Fulham on 9/11) away fans were housed at the Sandy end of the Willbutts which would have involved a whole different plan to do the same again. Once a decision was made and tickets were put on sale weeks ago, that couldn’t then be reversed.

It wouldn't be too great a stretch of the imagination to wonder if we had been 4 points behind after last Saturday more tickets would have been made available for York fans.

Where for? They weren't getting any more for Willbutts, whatever happened.

This level of segregation is completely disproportionate and like nothing I have ever seen before in English football. We could definitely have split the stand and still allowed sufficient segregation to satisfy GMP. This is a club-led decision.
| Spare ticket on 08:35 - Apr 22 with 4795 views | Dale_4_Life | I thought it was to minimize the lift the away support could give to York.. Get them as far back and central as possible.. The noise from the 3 home stands will be loud.. especially if we can get the important first goal. There does look to be some hard luck stories regarding tickets.. there will be a high % of attendees that are probably only attending their first Dale game this season. | | | |

There's no doubt that's a big part of it, as was explained at the fans forum. Anyone who was at the Spennymore game and the Oldham game a couple of seasons ago however will realise and appreciate the common sense decision the club have made re the Wilbutts. Sadly we ourselves still have a sizable minority of the usual idiots who I have no doubt whatever the result on Saturday will spend 90 % of their time directing their attention towards the away fans. Putting the away fans out of sight has worked at other clubs (ie Oldham) in reducing flashpoints, and negating the effect of a noisy following and I personally see the sense in Dale following suit. Certainly in a game like this the logistics of a segregated Wilbutts would be ridiculous and frought with risk.

I think you should give it a swerve, for the greater good of the club.

Was thinking that maybe some of the netting would be removed making more seats available. You'll know more about the situation than I so am sure you are correct in what you say. I was looking at things from the point of view that winning the playoffs would now be the aim, get as much income from York as possible.

Netting the Wilbutts to stop issues with the York fans is not a bad idea. We don't want pitch encroachments and the problems that brings with fines etc. York fans have behaviour issues too - their club has had to make plenty of statements about fan behaviour this season. Keeping them away from the ends of the Wilbutts stand and the front of the stand is probably a good idea. Sorry that some people will miss out. But the tickets were on sale for almost a week before they sold out.
| Spare ticket on 19:38 - Apr 22 with 3914 views | rochedale | I wonder if swapping ends would’ve been out of the question? Sling the York fans in the Pearl St and have the entire Wilbutts for the home fans. That means we’d lose no seats and we’d also have no segregation to worry about. As a one off, surely that could’ve been feasible? You’d obviously get those who love their seat behind the goal who would complain, but we’ve so many complaining now anyhow. Just a thought. | |

It’s very unfortunate that so many folk miss out. But the arrangement is there for the right reasons. Keeping away fans from the touch line, Dale fans behind both goals is potentially advantageous. Maybe if we got bigger crowds all the time, we could use the willbutts. But we don’t so it’s not going to work as a one off. The spennymoor game was proof of why things are the way they are. Up the Dale!
