Joe Bunney, who had been a revelation at left full back, broke his foot in the game at Walsall on 2 Jan 2017. His performances down the left wing, and dead ball deliveries, have never been replaced (he failed to be as effective on his return from injury).
To me that injury was the point at which our fortunes deteriorated. |  | | |

It’s a very good observation, we were flying at that point. Can remember the relatively easy win at Barrow in the cup a few days later with Rafferty at LB and McGahey at RB, it wasn’t ever really the same again as far as consistent performances were concerned. |  |

I have also thought that that Barrow game was more or less the game after which we started to struggle in general. Rathbone also got injured soon after that, I believe, and was playing well at the time - the pass he put through for the Henderson goal for example. He hasn't really played to the same standard since he came back in my opinion. |  | | |

Not only did the first two offer tough tackling in midfield, but very few teams came to attack at Spotland.
Now teams turn up to attack us, as they did last season.
Can’t turn back the clock but simply, our midfield has deteriorated and the rest follows. |  |

Which makes it even more staggering that Cannon isn't playing! Hopefully he starts tomorrow and makes it impossible for Hill to ignore him much more. |  |
