Good shot on BT sports of Arsenal celebrating and in the back ground thousnads of Saints fans in yellow & blue singing and applauding them, good display of support that day

Applauding them? Arsenal? I don’t recall applauding them at all. Saints yes, but not them.

It was the day it was noted that the brilliant Saints fans were the first losing fans to remain behind and not leave. A great wall of yellow support. Same as other cup finals, the Saints fans are louder and prouder than any of the fair weather fans of the top teams, who leave early and are nowhere near as passionate.

That's as I remember it. It was all about the passion of the day seeing our club at an FA Cup Final. No tourists, genuine Saints fans

And I don't think you've seen a losing team's fans staying behind like that since.

Great weekend Apart from that one blip of a goal

In the build up during the day I did bump into a couple of mates from Soton who supported other teams (everton and Liverpool respectively wearing saints shirts. ( slaps forehead)' bloody glory seekers.....

The Watford game at Villa Park was also a cracking day out in the semi final.

That must have been great. Couldn't get a ticket so watched in sports cafe. Quite a few saints fans and became a very messy night. Vague memories of champagne .

Yep, we were sat in the upper tier behind the goal at Villa Park. Strachan and the team toured the pitch at the end, to celebrate with the fans. It was a great day. Cardiff was good too, apart from the result. Remember travelling to Cardiff, having a meal in Cardiff and a few drinks before the game, Saints fans everywhere.

What sticks in my mind about that day is the Arsenal fans were so quiet it was just another game to them.

'No tourists'.....are you quite sure???

My ticket was nowhere near my mates but boy did i give it some vocals that day. Remember two blokes next to me being pretty 'mute' most of the game and after the final whistle i tried to make conversation and suggest that result aside, it was a decent day out. The būggers turned out to be Scandinavian and in no way, shape or form were they following Saints!!

Great day out tho

The Wolves quarter final in 2003 was arguably the best atmosphere I have been in at SMS. The crowd were fantastic that day and the celebrations for Marsden's overhead kick (of sorts) were immense.

Semi final was brilliant, but I think the final was a bit of a damp squib. The 6-1 mauling at Highbury screwed us up.

That's right, it was a brilliant game under the lights, thrashing Spurs- great atmosphere. Didn't we also beat Wolves that year at home in the quarter finals?

Just trying to recall who else we played now, Norwich, Spurs, Watford......

Either way, that year we were well worth our place in the final as we knocked out some decent sides.

The route to the final was great fun. Unfortunately the actual final was a letdown on the pitch. Seem to remember Fabrice Fernandez being dropped surprisingly, and we missed his flair and energy. We were quite average in the final and didn't create much but it was a great experience that year, on our way to the final.

I’d say that was the better day, the pub before the match was great fun, was at a wedding in Manchester the day before so travelled down on my own on the train, woke up p&ssed, stayed p£ssed on train and topped up all day, good times.

Millwall sir. Got a last-minute draw at home (Davies), then won up at their place, maybe after extra time. Think Oakley scored the winner

The route to the final was the most enjoyable cup run I’ve ever experienced having been to every one of the matches including the replay, as I was too young for 76,
But although the final was a good day out i didn’t like the final at all. Terrible match which we never really went at them, and that caning they gave us in the league the week before ruined everyone’s confidence.

Also never been a fan of the “yellows” chant!
