The first time Saints have scored 5 away in a league game since the 5-2 win at Ipswich in 2011.

Is Tonda Eckert the first Saints manager ever to win his first 3 league games?

Three points that many thought we wouldn't get players putting in confident performances and a thumping big win for the gd. He has three games to prove himself. So far, so good.

Really good performance. Charlton were surprisingly open in the first half but even so Saints did really well.

Looks nailed on for TE now. With the momentum they carry into the next couple of games, I can't see that performances can be bad enough to change minds at SR, particularly given the lack of other options. Here's hoping he can win the next 20 games too.

Wow! Didn't see that coming.
Huge amount of shots at goal, particularly in the first half.

They've had 2 weeks to prepare. It just goes to show the difference that good coaching can make.

I am obviously very happy with the win. But...
Id have expected this squad to be top 6 with no manager. We have a clear advantage over most of this league.

TE has done a good job steadying the ship but we aren't over performing. We beat 3 pretty average opponents.

Had he lost one or two, he would be seen as the cheap option etc etc. Three games later hes a genius?

Being the manager requires a lot more than a few good results when the old manager leaves.
Hes done ok but get someone with experience.

First half - best I have seen for a long time. Ripped them apart.

Very good 1st half display. Saints were briefed well and played a tactically astute game.

Charlton pressing and saints playing between the lines made this one way traffic. They did figure it out in the 2nd half though so don't get too excited.

Tonda is already proving himself a far better manager than Still, but he hasn't played a top 6 team as yet, Still played 5 of the top 6, lost 4 and drew 1. We have to play Coventry yet who are flying and before that a tricky Leicester team. I think the Foxes will give Ekhart his first true test as they are potentially top 6 material.
