Home sick by the sounds of it. He doesn't like the weather and can't settle. Seems like he isn't mentally fit enough to play.

Poll: Would you like Ings to come back?

Salisu problems on 15:47 - Jan 17 with 2099 viewsdirk_doone

Well, that's the mystery problem solved: he doesn't like the English weather.

I guess he's hoping to go back to sunny Spain on loan to see out the remainder of his contract. If it works out the way Salisu wants, Reall Valladolid will have made a tidy sum out of this. They've pocketed the £12 million transfer fee from us and we'll probably still have to pay part of his wages while he plays for them for the next few years.

To be fair, he's not the only one. There is a reason why we talk about fair weather players. Some players are just not happy playing in weather conditions they are not used to. England teams have used it as a valid excuse when they had to play in hot, tropical conditions and fans and TV pundits have accepted that, while the commentators frequently repeat how difficult the high temperatures must be for our players. Pelle was great in late summer and spring when the sun came out but you could see he hated playing in midwinter and never performed as well then.

Poll: Who will win the Premier League this season?

Salisu problems on 16:00 - Jan 17 with 2069 viewsBerber

"Injury concerns", "The weather hasn't helped." Doesn't really add up to mentally not fit. Anyone who has lived and worked abroad will understand how these chaps feel. Normally, the club and social network can keep them busy and engaged. The Covid situation will have undoubtedly contributed to a sense of isolation and things feeling strange.

He's already switched from Ghana to Spain. But having done it once doesn't necessarily mean that it comes easy the second time. I don't know if he has family with him, it will be worse for them.

Anyway, I don't think Salisu is ever really going to be happy here, even if he does play a few games when the weather gets warmer.

Haha, makes Norway and Belgium look a bit tame. Whilst we came to love both, and would have stayed in either under the right circumstances, it was difficult at first in both. We still harbour a romantic notion of doing it again, but family ties have got stronger as we have got older.

He is clearly not happy here (because of the weather, lonely or whatever), which is a shame as he looked a good prospect. But that's life. Sometimes people start a new job and /or move to a new country and don't like it. We will have to find a way to recoup some of the money and sell him back to Spain.

Some are; some aren't. It's much the same at every club. Agustin Delgado and Dani Osvaldo were two who just didn't like being here. I saw the only appearance, in a pre-season friendly, of that midfielder we got on loan from Italy. He was on pretty much the next flight back there after that, complaining bitterly about how terrible it had all been for him here.

He said he is getting used to the weather here. He didn’t say he didn’t like it here and wanted to go home. He has been injured. Give the bloke a break.

Norway would be a good choice.

Anyway, I've deleted that personal stuff about myself now as it's boring for most people.

Meanwhile, he's probably pocketing £20,000 a week.
I've worked in +50c and - 30c for £6,000 a month, 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Never bothered me..

What a total flake. He’s no doubt paid mega bucks especially compared to his previous clubs/ life. The least we should expect is effort and commitment to his employers. If he’s struggling to settle then put in for a transfer after a season. I’ve worked abroad, never got like it but it was well paid work.

Just get rid of him. It seems his heart’s not on it and wants a move. That’s fine as most of us have taken jobs that we wish we hadn’t.

You make a good point there, Kennington. He's obviously regretted his decision in coming here and many of us have done something we've regretted in life. But, on the plus side, whilst mulling over his regrets, he's probably made more money than most of us could ever dream of, working hard for an entire lifetime.

If you could be a Mohammed Salisu, Agustin Delgado or Dani Osvaldo millionaire, which millionaire would you prefer to be?

Dani Osvaldo, as I reckon he probably earnt more during the Cortese days and he looked like a film star, so may have some future star roles. He was also able to tolerate the rain, and didn't mind playing games in the cold for his 400 000 pounds a month, although he didn't like the mud.

Son Heung Min was very unhappy at Spurs in his first year and thought more than once to return to German football. It worked out OK though.

He's 21 years old and has moved here during a pandemic. In the interview he says he has struggled and got injured but things are improving. You lot have the written the lad off before he kicks a ball. Give him a break ffs, he could end up to be cracking player for all you know.

How do you know that his heart isn’t in it and he wants to go home? Apparently he wasn’t in good shape when he arrived and had 2 muscle injuries. Apparently he is very highly thought of by the club and they see him having a long future here. Do you remember the vast numbers of supporters slagging off the Ings move because clearly he was finished and we had wasted our money? Give the bloke a chance. He will appear when he is fit and ready, then you can start slagging him off.

This lot are so fickle if he plays one good game they will be declaring him to be as good as Bobby Moore. One mistake and they will be calling for Jack Stephens to be recalled.

I'm not sure that more isnt being made of it than is necessary, here we have a young player who is barely 21 when he joins Saints, he is unable to join in pre season training because he has to firstly isolate for 2 weeks when he arrives and then recover from injury.

He is then in a situation where he is single has no friends in the country and can't even go anywhere much because of Covid 19 restrictions, just as he gets fit and settle in not only does it get cold (and for the record they do have cold in Spain and in Valladolid it is currently the same sort of temperature it is in Southampton ) but we also plunge into another lockdown from the start of November and aside from a week or so before Xmas when the shops opened he will have basically been stuck indoors most of the time on his own since getting here in late August.

So it is no wonder that his mental fragility is a little frail at the moment,

Still lets not this all get in the way of blaming someone at the club and pointing out past mistakes from past employees under completely different circumstances, Les reed must be to blame somewhere or Gao or Rupert Lowe or for older fans Ian Branfoot

Yes have patience. He doesn't say that he can't deal with it, it has just been a surprise and he's getting used to it.
Although - this isn't directed at Salisu - but you'd think if there was ever a career where moving abroad was easy it would be football.
You are treated like royalty by your new employers.
In fact they even employ someone for you to liase with to help with accommodation, paying your bills etc etc.
Then when you get to work you immediately have about 30 mates all around the same age and most are also foreign so can help and advise you on things.
Finally when you get to do your actual job, it's playing football for a living!
99% of people that relocate don't have anywhere near this level of support.

He’s not done a fan q&a or featured in the ‘pull my Christmas cracker’ type feature on the social media type things. We therefore have no idea about his favourite cheese or even PlayStation game. Get rid.
