Yes Pat, we did sell CC to QPR in 1989 and if memory serves me correctly he was not exactly 100% fit (sound familiar? 😀) and although he did manage 46 apps in two seasons there he only scored 11 goals compared to A82/G36 for us. Bournemouth got the best out of him A46/G26 then he got 2 more goals in 4 loan appearances back there just prior to the move to QPR.
Little known fact, CC was the manager of the Puerto Rico national team from 2008-2011.

From memory Colin Clarke collided heavily with a goalpost suffering a nasty knee injury that he never really fully recovered from. Although he did play a fair few games for QPR he missed as many as he played. Seem to remember we got a decent fee for him all things considered, whist to say we mugged QPR would be a bit strong in the context of Ross Stewart but we did well to get him through a medical and bank a decent fee.
As for they played for both, what about the player with one of the best nicknames, ‘One Size’ - Fitz Hall, he played for both as did another of our recent keepers Joe Lumley and a bit of a collectors item Oscar Gobern.

Both Alex McCarthy and Charlie Austin played for QPR in this game:
We're going to need another thread for Saints players who were also managers of the Puerto Rico national team.

Having watched the video, no wonder McCarthy only played 3 games for QPR! It has also made me nervous for the game midweek…
As for the new thread perhaps we could get Pat, ably assisted by Wints, to do one for ex-Saints full backs who have managed a national team. Come on Wints, there must be one out there somewhere 🙂
