Pelle had scored 50 goals in 57 games for Feyenoord when he came here. How many goals has Larin scored for Feyenoord?
Pelle was in the form of his life when we signed him; Larin isn't. In fact if you look at how his form has declined and the goals have dried up, there is obviously something wrong. Apart from the Sport Republic recruitment team, anyone would notice these red flags:

Any loan signing in January is likely to have issues. I hope he stays fit and proves a handful for Championship centre halves. He has clearly been around the block but maybe a new start is what he needs. Having Armstrong as the centre forward meant we had to play a certain way. This lad seems closer to Ross Stewart in terms of style. He won't be Pelle but then we aren't a top half Premier League club with Koeman as the manager. | | | |

You are right i havent been impressed with him, but I have stuck to facts and not personal abuse, I want him to do well. I have acknowledged his good and in some cases great saves and highlighted his weaknesses, if he is man of the match on sunday I will be give him the deserved credit | |

I get the point regarding Evans & Dryden, Pelle & Tadic too.
However, when Carrillo arrived nobody was laughing for long, we were all soon crying! None of the above arrived with clear and obvious lifestyle issues that could potentially impact the man in the street let alone a professional sportsman.
Simple research on Pelle told you he was scoring goals for fun at the time we signed him and was coming from a League from which most players seem to adapt to the English game easily. I was actually quite excited to see what Pelle could do. I was devastated when he left as he’d looked superb playing for Italy in Euro 2016 and I was really looking forward to seeing him back at St Mary’s.
Larin looks like a high risk signing. As I don’t wear a hat, I will be happy to eat my words if I am wrong and Larin gets a hat trick against Watford, or anyone else for that matter!
The positive is he’s only on loan so the risk is minimised in that respect but what annoys me is Piroe will still be warming the bench at Leeds and Derby got Szmodics from Ipswich last minute on loan. Be honest, is Larin better than either of those options? |  | | |

I am not sure what is worse Nick, McCarthy getting beat at the near post or passing to opponents, Bazunu getting regularly beat from outside the box or across his body or Peretz not dealing with corners ?

Peretz’s 2 saves at Stoke were beyond Bazunu’s ability, he’s nowhere near athletic enough to pull those off, particularly the low one Pertetz touched onto the post- no chance Bazunu saves that, the ball would’ve been past him before he got near it, too flat footed. Like others I find your continual defence of Bazunu baffling. BTW I am also reserving judgement on Peretz, and he certainly hasn’t convinced on crosses under the bar. However he’s clearly a far more able keeper in terms of athleticism and shot saving ability. | | | |

Silly comment to say hate him. I just don’t rate him and got sick of countless goals conceded that a better keeper at our level would keep out. Literally nobody else I know or read on this forum rates him, you are a lone voice Nick. It's not personal to him. Bazunu just isn't very good. The two great saves at the weekend by Peretz show how poor Bazunu was. Bazunu must have short arms. Any shot in the corner and it was always straight in. Peretz stretches and saves. And he is more vocal. Keepers are there to stop shots going in. Two clean sheets now for Peretz. | |

This fan is always prepared to give new players the opportunity to prove their worth.
It’s more than irritating that some players get plenty of opportunities but fail to attain the required standard expected whereas others do not get the same opportunities.
Appointing three different coaches every season doesn’t result in continuity, consistency or stability.
Good, promising players have been let go who have become disillusioned at lack of opportunity or through the whim of the incumbent coach in temporary charge.

We don’t hate him Nick but we can see Baz was awful with trying to stop shots driven hard across him which you either don’t see or refuse to admit it . Surely we can’t all be wrong ? From what I see and most of us see all our keepers make mistakes including Peretz but given more game time I’m sure he’ll improve and those saves at Stoke were outstanding. I think Peretz will also be good at organising his defence as he is more vocal . |  |

At least we can all agree he's an upgrade on McCarthy and he is the alternative now. (Personally, I also think he's probably better than Bazunu, but, although it's unfortunate for Stoke, we're lucky Bazunu's injury occurred there and not here, which would have meant McCarthy would still have been our only alternative).
We can but hope that Larin is an upgrade on Damion Downs. [Post edited 4 Feb 10:28]
