Often touted last season as the man to replace Russell Martin/ Ivan Juric/Simon Rusk, sacked by Forest as they sink nearer relegation, linked now to Vitor Pereira.

This will be their 4th manager of the season

There's an old adage that says all political careers inevitably end in failure.

With very very few exceptions, so do those of football managers.

I think your dates are out there Nick. He was Evertons manager last season. Saints fans wanted him when Ralph was sacked.

I imagine he will end up back at Burnley in the summer.

Someone asked what people mean when they say we need a 'proper manager'. Basically, what they mean is a white British one who's managed teams to a number of lower mid-table finishes.

No 'proper manager' has won the Premier League since Alex Ferguson retired. Sean Dyche was the last of the 'proper managers' to win anything when he took Burnley to the Championship title 10 years ago, so he's usually given as an example. The Championship has since been won only by foreign managers, often with little or no previous experience of the Championship or even English football. These managers would not be considered 'proper'.

Tonda Eckert is clearly not 'proper' so the 'proper manager' people are very unhappy that he has the best winning percentage of any manager in our history in the Football League. They're angry when we win games because they'd prefer Sean Dyche. During the first half of the Leicester game, the 'proper manager' people all poured out of the woodwork trumphantly, with a stream of bile and anti-Eckert comments. They were not at all happy during the second half, however, and went very quiet. But, they're still lurking, hoping we'll lose our next game.

The people you are referring to may be suffering from Reverse Fanaticism Disorder (RFD)

It manifests itself as an intense brain fog where the sufferer has no control over the urge to wish the team would lose the next game. They have an irrational conviction that this will bring about the changes that will save the club long term.

Advanced symptoms of RFD are disturbing and include:

Involuntary celebration of an opponent scoring.

Wearing the opponents replica shirt under that of your club.

Checking prices, facilities and train schedules for clubs currently 2 levels below yours.

Posting vitriolic abuse on Forums aimed at anyone or anything related to the club during, or just after, an away victory.

There is no known cure at time of writing.

( Sorry, it's a slow day here.)

Nottingham Forest are in a right state, all caused by their crazy, not very slim owner. Weren't they 3rd or something like that when Nuno got sacked, purely because he didn't get on with the owner? The owner stormed onto the pitch huffing and puffing because he's not very healthy, to have a go at the players. Nuno did a great job there. Then Forest have had various managers who have all failed, because the players and staff know that the owner is crazy. Dyche is a decent manager, but was never going to do well with the same crazy owner. I hope they go down, to serve that stupid owner right.

I think the Nuno/Forest sequence was that last season they were 3rd in end April but slipped late to lose a CL place by a point.

The chubby Greek chap was all pissed off and fired him very early this season

If he is your definition of chubby, I hate to think what an obese person would look like.

didnt parker win our league last year or is he not considered proper.
Eckert was a cheap option for owners that have spunked more money up the wall on poor managers than you can imagine. The players dug eckert and themselves out of a deep hole against a poor leicester team that is fact.Eckert is fortunate to have one of the deepest and strongest squads in the division and i hope we do really well but do i think we could upgrade our coach hell yes

Being that is it 90% certain we will be in this league next season, who do we want to come down and join us? Clearly Wolves are already gone, along with Burnley, but who would we want to join them, with the focus being on the least likely team to compete for the top 2 spots?

For me I can see Forest falling apart if they go down as their owner is a bit of a madman. I can also see him getting a points deduction as financially they sail close to the wind.

West Ham would likely be big spenders. Spurs the same. Leeds might struggle again maybe? Could it be Brighton and what would happen to them if they did drop down at last?

Dyche is already being linked to the Leicester City job... as is a certain Ralph Hasenhüttl.

He’s not likely to be long out of work.
Would I consider him an upgrade if we appointed him? Nope.
Our current coach is an upgrade on his predecessors, results confirm the fact so far.
Let’s see where we go from here.

Decent manager imo

Did well at Watford then took Burnley up as champions in 2016 and got them into Europe

From the outside Forest look pretty unmanageable at the moment with a megalomaniac, nutjob owner

I would imagine he'll have to take a step back down to the championship and rebuild his reputation as I can't see many teams thinking he's the answer to their problems in the prem right now

Fail we may, sail we must
