Well colour me surprised! Just found the Tim Currey song. Great tune, both versions.

The Tim Curry version is good but I've seen Joe Bonamasa do it live a few times & it's a great song

Absolute belter that one.

Surprised 'all along the watchtower' is on page 2. The cover that changed covers that one.

No-one has mentioned the absolute best I'm afraid:

Which itself was a cover of Dan Penn, wasn't it?

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

Nope - written for the great man by him and Chips Moman.

This is worth a read

A mate met him while interviewing Quinton Claunch (and, he hoped, James Carr). James sat there catatonic and didn't speak a word.

Ah! right, mate. I stand corrected. I've always known that it was a Penn/Morman tune, I'd just assumed that Dan had cut it himself first.

Ronnie Scott once remarked "I know most of my heroes have feet of clay but it's disappointing when you realise some of them have heads of clay too".
