Break up of the UK 19:32 - Mar 27 with 3662 viewstrampie

The days of the UK might be numbered, in the short to medium term Scotland might get independence, N.Ireland might unite with the Republic of Ireland, leaving just England and Wales, the English have flooded Wales making Welsh independence a long shot at this point in time but in the long term English white flighters might not want anything to do with rule from their old homeland as other non indigenous groups gain more influence, its been suggested overseas immigration in some cases is sometimes an issue resulting in English white flight from large cities, concerns about overseas immigration was said to have played a large part in the Brexit vote, Welsh independence might be gained in time through English immigrants and not just Welsh nationalists.

Suspect she will be over time.

Theresa the Appeaser is the most useless PM ever.
No mandate.
She fought for Remain and then got Leave. Useless.

The shame is the so called opposition is ..well ...not really an opposition at all.

If the succesful and talented Nicola was leading the main opposition, then Theresa the Appeaser would be shown up big time. 'Brexit means brexit', and 'we need a red, white, and blue brexit'. Moronic. Laughable.

She was right about the Tories being the nasty party though.

No mandate? Nor did Brown. Didn't hear many complaints then, even though the Blair-Brown war hardly helped Britain.

May was one minor person in the Remain camp. Many more senior were useless - including Corbyn. The same whiners pointing out she was pro-Remain are the same whining she'd ignored the wishes of the people if Article 50 wasn't invoked.

Sturgeon successful and talented? Guess it's not just Scottish football where the talent has declined then.

Tories the nasty party? Put in her place due to her self-entitlement to wanting to interrupt ad nauseum.

The Theresa the Appeaser government did not even understand how Parliament works. The judges had to explain it to them. Laughable.

David Davies is a half wit. Negotiator with EU - come on is it ?

At least the good people of Norn Iron and Scotland will be free.

The worst PM ever.

"Minor person in the remain camp?"

Home Secretary in charge of immigration!

She campaigned for remain and lost.
Leave won, because she failed as home Secretary on immigration.
She was taken to court over the royal prerogative, and lost
Her chancellor's first budget contained the biggest u turn in modern political history..

She will not be able to 3 line whip the EU, the way she does Tory MPs who put retaining power above personal principles and the country.

The biggest U turn in political history? I think you'll find that was the poll tax...

And whilst this mob are a bag of dog sh*t, Bluey makes a valid point. Corbyn, Abbott et al. couldn't run a bath (Abbott would probably eat it mind) never mind the country.

Iceland, Ireland, Singapore, Norway, Switzerland etc all above the UK.

Don't you think the Scots could match Iceland and Ireland and therefore better the UK and be one of the most developed countries in the World ?

So you focus on two words. Cute. Typical Labourite.

The lead on the Remain campaign were the party leaders, chancellor and business interested. Spin it all you like, May was on the periphery of the Remain campaign.

Leave won because Cameron gaining anything from negotiations with EU would have shown EU could be reformed. EU leaders openly mocking that deal sealed the result.

I'm not a labourite. Haven't voted labour for quite some time.

Hardly.

Granted it was an assumption on my part, you pointed out I referred to Corbyn. A two word reference...

I'd say you're obsessed with claiming I'm obsessed with Labour by ignoring a post in favour of focusing purely upon two words.

Now, with the exception of UKIP, ALL political party leaders were behind the Remain cause. Cameron and Osborne more of a lead looking to capitalise upon a deal with EU - a deal even EU leaders mocked. Corby half-heartedly backed Remain - his views on Eu are pretty well documented. Farron? Eh, most people will ask "who"?

All had bigger parts to play in the Remain campaign than May.#

Would May have wanted to Remain? Sure. People advised they wanted to leave. May has taken that on board. Others would have refused out of dogma.

Pragmatics will want the best deal possible to occur. Dogmatics want it to fail so they can score points.

She should have refused, as implementing things that you dont believe in makes politics no more than a game for the ambitious.

'Best deal possible' is meaningless. Means different things to different people of course.

Dreadful Home Secretary and a dreadful PM.

Any thoughts whether we'd still be allowed to play in the English Football pyramid in the case of an independent Wales ?

Yes.

However when sky go pan european leagues, we could be excluded as we would be in the Football League.

I am more concerned about the great European players not being able to play here. I quite enjoyed Keano, Henry, Cantona, Van Persie, Guillt, plus watching JDG, Michu, Fab, Rangel and llorente. Shame.

Project Fear about footballers.

I mean, there are so few non-EU players in the football leagues aren't there? Oh wait. EU players will be subject to the same work permit rules as anyone else then.

Meaning great/good/decent players will be fine. Cheap dross won't.

I'm sure the Basques and Catalans will be watching it eagerly. If they are denied independence, can't see Eta maintaining the ceasefire.

The biggest indicator of the problems we have (we being the UK) came when immediately following the vote, all talk was about how we'd remain members of the single market, and wouldn't need to trade free movement of people in return. Why? Because we're the UK and everyone is desperate to trade with us or some such misguided nonsense.

Now? That's all gone through the window. Even the white paper acknowledges that it's out of the question.

Day by day, the so called position of strength that we'd find ourselves in is being eroded. (We never actually had it, but it's being publically accepted as eroded).

I said some weeks ago, that the big unknown with the Scottish question is its ability to be used by the EU as a ransom strip in the negotiations. In some ways Scotland doesn't even need to actually vote to go. It just needs the threat hanging over our heads for the next two years. It would be interesting to know exactly what conversations Sturgeon has been having with EU leaders, as she is playing right into their hands against the UK at the moment.

This week has gone very badly for us.

Any half competent politician could run rings around Theresa Mao's arguments. As Major, Heseltine, Clarke, Sturgeon and Blair have done.

Just shows how incompetent Corbyn is.

If either Scotland or Gibraltar goes, would that be fateful for May's premiership?

Fact is, the EU is holding pretty much all the cards in this negotiation process. The EU knows it and although they obviously won't admit to it publicly, the UK government knows it too.

Indeed, The PM of Gibraltar said to May when she became PM that we need a deal that keeps them in the single market.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/brexit-latest-gibraltar-seeks-eu

Just like her negotiations with the devolved governments, she completely ignored his request.

If you need to blame someone for the Gibraltar situation, it's not the EU or Spain.
