They wouldn't be married.

Or in any kind of relationship which would make them eligible to adopt. Daft parallel to draw.

The two straight men in your example clearly wouldn’t be a couple.

I don’t think it’s funny at all. Personally I think,if he’s guilty he should get the death penalty but I didn’t want to say that for fear of upsetting the little petals on here.

And if I’m brutally honest I feel slightly uneasy that men are adopting little girls like this.

Off you go.

So either you think men can't be trusted around children and it's only the presence of a woman that stops them abusing, or you think gay men are more likely to abuse than straight men, or you think all children have to be brought up by a woman and a man can't do a good job.

Which is it?

That's what one of my options was.

What about little boys being brought up by a single mum? What if a mother dies and a man brings up his kids? Can't a man be a good single parent if parents split up? The grandmother helped with the care of the children in this case - there are plenty of female role models for children - it doesn't have to be a mother.

Your explanation rings hollow - it's because they're gay.

Same as for Gary jack, who seemingly can't even grasp that one of the men wanted a daughter and the other didn't mind what gender the kid was and thinks it's somehow the case that one of the men was going to bring up a boy as a princess if necessary.

This case is disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. That poor little girl and what she suffered makes me feel literally sick. But if it turns out that one of the men is a monster, he's a monster. Not because he's gay, but because he's a monster.

Not when one of them states in court that he didn't mind whether they had a boy or a girl, just a daddy's little Princess!

As in every one of these cases, I imagine she'll never forgive herself if he turns out to have done this.

Nothing to do with anyone's gender or sexuality though.

I'm sorry, but for me in the main, the gay bit is not the important point especially when it comes to adoption. To give an adopted child the best chance of a better life i think it's vitally important it has a woman as a role model, whether it be a girl or a boy. We are biologically different, whatever your personal views on adoption are, that is a fundamental and undeniable fact i'm afraid.

Nice.

I've brought my two daughters up on my own without their mother being about.

What does that make me or my kids?

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

I agree. I just believe that both male and female role models (which are equally important) can be found within the extended family or close friends and godparents. It doesn't need to be a 'Mother and Father' and to suggest otherwise does a great disservice to legions of wonderful single parent families and gay parent families.

Hat's off to you Neathie, you should be very proud of you and your kids. However, i'm talking more about the adoption process and giving an adopted child the best chance. And my view is that any child that is given up for adoption should have a 'mother' as a role model. I'm pretty sure that's what Darran means as well.
