Cwmtawe 14:34 - Nov 11 with 4613 views | jack_lord | Apparently, my daughter was told that if she didn't bring in at least £5 for a contribution towards the school's charity week that she would incur consequences. Incidentally, we had already given a further £10 in the same week, as was expected, for the school's fun run. Charity is great. We give plenty by direct debit to our selected charities. My concern which is also a question. Is it right that teachers can "threaten" a child with"consequences" if they do not stump up cash?

If I took this action, I fear for my daughter's treatment at school thereon.

Understandable mate, but you would expect teacher's to be all over bullying instead of perpetrating it ...

Also, it always surprises me the amount of planet swans posters that regularly contribute to charities straight from their bank accounts. Makes me feel like a bit of an inconsiderate tight arse to be honest.

That your daughter was told "that if she didn't bring in at least £5 for a contribution towards the school's charity week that she would incur consequences". Or put it another way, i do not believe that a teacher told her that.

The head of year told them they should bring in ten pounds, so there will be 250 witnesses. Her form teacher was asking them daily to bring in money. My daughter took £5 to school. So no not fuxking apparently.

Then i suggest you get onto the director of education and / or the evening post/wales online. My money is still on it being a misunderstanding mind, as i find it extremely hard to believe that a teacher would threaten pupils with consequences for failing to donate a nominated amount of money. Some serious misconduct charges could be levelled there. I'll look forward to reading the outcome of this, keep us updated please. [Post edited 11 Nov 2017 15:08]

This is what I am telling my daughter will happen. She is concerned about how she will be treated by the school if I take this action.

She should be treated exactly the same as every other well behaved pupil one would imagine. I'd like to think that even if a teacher has threatened the pupils as you described, that the others would be equally horrified by it and would want to see the back of that teacher as well. We can stop talking about even if it happened as I described straight away. I wouldn't have introduced this as a question as this is not the way I do things.
