Recently we have seen some very big high street shops closing and shredding jobs, how come when the unemployment figures are released the following month unemployment is down? This has been going on for a long time so are the people who are made redundant suddenly whisked into other jobs or suddenly self employed with all the benefits that involves "um"?

Yep.
But we all love it and it's here to stay.
The high streets will be decimated in future.
Amazon has now infiltrated every area of retail.

This is a massive kick in the death for town centres like Tonypandy. Their shop is extremely busy, and along with Iceland, probably the most popular shop there. It won't affect me, as the Record Shop gets visitors who purely come to the town to buy Vinyl/CDS. However, I fear the worst for some of the other shops on the already depleted high street. | |
