I know Tammy, Dyer etc are getting a lot of stick, but I have watched Carroll’s performance closely today live, I thought maybe in the past I’ve been overly harsh.
65 minutes gone and it’s the worst central midfield performances I have ever seen at this level, coward in the tackle and too slow when in possession. Give Byers a chance because he can’t be worse than him.

Some serious player knocking going on in this thread. The performance today for me underlines our paper thin squad after a poor and late window in the close season,
Tammy is not a holding player. He is a poacher who feeds of plenty of crosses coming into the area. He is not suited to our style of play.
The midfield picked itself today. We had no one else and unfortuately Carroll and Clucas are only squad players. Not consistent enough hence they need another player to compete for their place. Ki is fine when in a creative midfield that is winning the ball. Our midfield was not doing this.
The result was we were overrun and our defence under constant pressure having to put bodies on the line just to keep the score down.
It just goes to show what a remarkable job Carlos has been doing but this squad cannot compete with the level of injuries and key players out that we experienced today.
Jenkins is responsible for the lack of quality and depth in our squad. He is the one to blame and not the manager or players. |  |

Ki has a number of attributes such as some fine dead ball delivery and able to play and retain the ball in midfield. He has his faults, but to say he has no redeeming features is nonsense.

Tom was poor though. As most of them were. Clucas one of the few who looked up for it (relatively) imo.

Our midfield has been bullied off the ball all season especially so when Carroll is in the team, and it will continue when ever he plays.

The only shock here is that people still seemed to be shocked by Tom as a footballer ! he is yet another steady eddy who offers very little over the course of a season, we have a quite a few of them and it's one of the reasons we have been fighting relegation the last few years, the talent is getting diluted by sub standard players who should be playing championship football for a number of years before being good enough to make the step up.
Tom plays well when the team plays well, Clucas talked about people in the crowd effecting his performance, both are mentally weak and it's why we struggle after the manager has played his aces in keeping us up .
It's really hard to blame the players, they are just not at the level, the odd performance here and there buys them a bit of time but it's clear the team lacks good quality, it's all a product of poor recruitment over a number of years.
I'm on record for slating this signing purely because we already had him at the club once before and he was poor then too !! he's small and weak as a kitten and has serious difficulty marking his players or runners, his passing is woeful and his time on the ball is slow.
Clucas isn't far behind, Fer isn't great either , mesa failed to make the grade and Ki has been poor for 4 of his 6 seasons here yet is now the best option.
Can't blame the players, we must look at recruitment , we need to stop the bleeding of average signings for huge money that alck mental strength and technical ability, fair weather footballers who look good only once in a while is what's killing us . |  | | |

Carroll did reasonably well last year but he's had an absolutely shocking season this time around. He's got ability but he's far too weak. Put him alongside a Ki doing one of his not infrequent Houdini acts and we had a midfield just asking for Spurs to stroll through it at will.
Say what you want about Fer, but we could have done with him on the park today. In the attacking sense as well as being unafraid to put a foot in. |  |
