FAO Lifey 17:19 - Sep 1 with 713 views | dickythorpe | Talk to me about Sloes! I'll be around Gower a bit in this merry month of September. I've still got a drop of sloe gin I made following your recipe from 5 years ago!!! [Post edited 1 Sep 2019 20:18]

Lifeys sloe gin recipe should be patented. It’s magnificent.

Another method is to put bag them up and put in the freezer for an hour or two. This "pops" the berries so you don't have to prick them. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I heard you should wait for the first frost before picking Sloe... or is that an old wives tale.

Yes, I’ve heard that, sometimes the frosts can be quite late, well into October, by that time the Sloes are past their best. I think that is why people pick them a bit earlier and put them in the freezer for a short period of time.
