Feeling peckish....fancied a pie 22:09 - Jan 18 with 2319 viewsdickythorpe

.........and it got me thinking as someone on here alluded to pies and the lack of a pie thread......now as a hot headed, red blooded, 90%proof alcohol blooded male the obvious answer is "furry"......(relax sisters)..….the answer could well be obscure......the pastry quality might be the answer...... anyway with that in mind I believe with the pastry of your dreams there is a winner.....STEAK &ALE......chicken and mushroom in white sauce is up there

Was going to mention Fray Bentos but feared pelters.

Saunders pie used to be my fave...also Clark’s pies in Cardiff (gasp) are nice.

Used to like Covelli’s in Mumbles when I was a child.

I used to enjoy the odd "CLARPIE". when I did my PhD in Cardiff. Not so keen on the Liverpool Scouse Pie, but quite like the northern meat and potato. Wrights Pies from Stoke are pretty good (my local NISA sells them). However the greatest pies and sausage rolls are from a butchers in Newcastleton in the Scottish/ Northumbria Borders. Colleagues used to do field work in Kielder Forest and bring them back-incredible

You can’t beat a Fray Bentos pie in a tin.

Has to be Steak and Kidney, but finding a decent pie is becoming more difficult as the makers try to keep costs down by using cheaper cuts of meat and filling the things with gravy instead of meat. Suggestions for a decent brand /baker will be greatfully received.

I bought a fantastic steak and kidney pie at a stall in the market they hold down Swansea marina on Sunday mornings.

More expensive than your average pie but well worth it. Nice large portion too.

Sunday has a morning?!!!!
