| How is your "Easter" taking shape? 19:35 - Apr 11 with 2521 views | dickythorpe | It is very, very different as if that's not stating the obvious. We all had a drink after work together yesterday and after today's shift I am now on annual leave for a week. Was due to go to Cornwall on Tuesday but that has been refunded as it was cancelled some weeks ago now. Very odd not having any sport to watch. In years gone by this was the "business end" of the season and many times I was at the Vetch with my dad on the Saturday and then off to watch the Baa-Baas on Easter Monday at St.Helen's. Will have some roast veggies tomorrow with a steak and possibly a beverage but I'm not feeling the need for booze as much as I used to. I think it's a subdued feeling as there's a lot of anxiety and uncertainty. Having said that this weather is glorious and sitting outside earlier was a pleasure. Lovely blue sky and the birds tweeting was very pleasant. Much respect to you all and have a great weekend | | | | |

| How is your "Easter" taking shape? on 20:25 - Apr 11 by Flashberryjack | Just starting my 4th week of isolation, and thank goodness the weather has been excellent, so I've spent a lot of time catching up on things I've been putting off for bloody years. I can put up with most things, but what I'm missing the most is obviously the football, no morning papers being delivered, and my Sunday afternoon pint down the pub with a couple of mates, plus the occasional meal out with the missus. But seeing the horrendous death rate, and hearing of the terrible suffering of people that have contracted the virus, I take solace from the fact that my wife and immediate family are virus free (at the moment) The wife has given me another list of "to does in the garden" for tomorrow, as another fine day is expected, then she has paint at the ready as soon as the weather changes for the indoor work. Bottle of red in the fridge for later (I know), leg of local welsh lamb out of the freezer for tomorrow's dinner, so for now it's a relaxing evening with the wife and the TV. Our thoughts to all the wonderful NHS staff and everyone single one of the people that are working their socks off to keep the country going. Stay safe everyone. |
Just quick update, last nights chilled red went down very well indeed. Today the missus cooked the locally sourced welsh lamb to perfection, along with new potatoes, cauliflower, carrots, parsnips (Uch) and mushy peas. My job was to make the gravy, which I normally do with great aplomb, unfortunately the bloody top came off the gravy browning bottle, which left me with a saucepan full of something resembling treacle and a screaming wife. Tonight it won't only be the wine that's chilly. Stay safe everyone.

Let me tell you, Karnataka, retirement is a breeze, but a confusing crosswind of not knowing what day it is does blow at times. I've led a very busy life, what with marrying some wrong 'uns and having loads of kids (all of them right 'uns) and doing a number of jobs, often simultaneously, and I thought I'd finally get round to doing loads of other things once retired. I have to say though, the garden is a mess, I just can't face DIY and loads of plans are 'on hold'. I'm as happy as a pig in Cardiff however. My sincere thanks to those of you who make me smile daily with your nonsense.

Haha! Thanks for the heads up GB! I should have retired 3 years ago but still work part time as I can't trust myself not to vegetate completely if left completely to my own devices!

My daughter bought a bottle of white from the Spar recently. Your pee is probably better.
