Aye - Galloway doing fûcking cat impressions when he’s not rimming mass-murdering dictators. The massive cûnt.

| Laura kuenssburg on 09:41 - Apr 15 by sainthelens | If anyone saw Piers grilling the care minister this morning on GMB, that's exactly the type of questioning there needs to be. Never really liked him before 'all this' but he is asking the questions all of us are asking. Well done Piers. |
Yes I did. It was gripping, and he wouldn't let up would he. She looked more and more uncomfortable, she didn't look her best and it went downhill. I thought at one point she was going to burst into tears. Most mornings I do now switch over to ITV if he's on, the BBC are far too fluffy. I have seen Kuenssburg ask the right questions, but when fobbed off she doesn't persist (none of them do though during the updates, I wonder have they been shushed?), unlike Mad Dog Morgan.

Just watched it, he gave her a very difficult time, but she didn’t help herself. I can understand the initial smile when he said he was going to show her the Daily Mail which she couldn’t see as she didn’t have a tv screen in front of her, but she proceeded to smile a few more times and he jst tore her apart. The issue with PPE and testing is very concerning, I read today that the NHS are now looking at washing and reusing single use garments, testing was supposed to be up to 25,000 a day in England by today and Wales was supposed to be near 10,000, we are no where near those figures.

It’s funny, I thought it was reasonable. I’d find it useful to know how long this is likely to last and the types of things they’ll think of to lift it. Merkel said today that they estimate the R0 in Germany is 1. They’ve just said today that ours is less than 1. This is, obviously good news, and I don’t think for one minute that we should lift anything at the moment. But I suspect the answer to the difference is that we cannot do what Germany is doing due to testing. I’d like to be told how long that testing problem is going to mean we can’t lift any restrictions.

Maybe I‘m missing the obvious but how can they know that the rate is less than 1 in the UK when there is far too little testing ?

Extrapolated from calls to 111, admissions to hospitals, reports within care homes etc, the Kings App, plus tests that are actually happening - all sorts of stuff. They can probably work it out quite closely. It’s extrapolated everywhere - even in Germany, as an example, they are only testing fractions of the population albeit far higher fractions than us.

My understanding based on experience in testing small populations is you don't need massive numbers in samples to get a statistically reliable result, getting the sample correct is very important. Laura demonstrated again today that she's not up to a science correspondent job she should stick to political tittle tattle. [Post edited 16 Apr 2020 18:08]

On the issue of testing, will it really make that much of a difference? The reality is that an nhs worker could be tested on Saturday morning and get the all clear but then catch the virus Saturday afternoon and potentially infect fifty people. I suppose if you’re tested and you’re positive you can be removed immediately but the chances are you’ve already potentially spread it.

I thought she was less useless than normal. I think refusing to tell anyone what they expect re timescale is strange. That list of things that need to be in place says nothing. They've had a huge meeting today - they must have a vague idea.

It’s more the reverse isn’t it. NHS workers are off because they or a child etc have symptoms and it’s not the virus so it’s 14 days out that’s unnecessary.

Yes that’s my wife’s view, it’s about getting anyone that doesn’t have it back on the front line.
