We don't eat the fish we catch? Most of what we eat is imported that is true but we do eat at least a third of what we catch. However, if the price of UK caught fish was dead cheap IO think you might find it gets eaten, especially when the cost of import4d fish has risen.

Lets call it market forces.

PS, before the EU took over fishing we were a net exporter of fish, then they ruined our fishing industry and we became a net importer, now the pendulum will swing back.

Nah, tastes overrule market forces. Cod has gone through the roof lately (getting up towards a tenner now for fish and chips) but you don't see people queing up in Rossi's asking for herring and chips. Maybe in time we' get there - I love pickled herrings, but very few Brits I know do.

We import 95% of the cod we eat, and export over 90% of the herring we catch, if anyone's interested. Fish has become the poster child of the Brexiteers, but it's far more complex that they willing to admit (or realise?). From unequal distribution of species, genuine market forces at play in terms of fishing rights (we've sold a lot of ours off willingly, which Brexit won't change) and of course the one thing nobody talks about - conservation concerns.
