Would rather us keep money back, aslong as we don't lose anyone.
| Kasey Palmer on 18:43 - Oct 15 with 2581 views | KeithHaynes | Swansea City are close to agreeing a loan deal with an option to buy for Bristol City attacking midfielder Kasey Palmer. Steve Cooper hopes to complete a swoop for the former Blackburn Rovers and Huddersfield Town man after a long-term interest in the player and discussions have progressed on a switch that could be wrapped up on Friday ahead of the 5pm deadline. Bristol Post. Sorry Risca, just seen that was your post.

Others would have deemed Britton, Trundle and co failures at their former clubs. I chose to have an open mind. Cooper has yet to fail in the loan market, and clear knows a player. [Post edited 15 Oct 2020 18:58]

Trundle banged in them for Wrexham and Britton was most expensive teenager at one point signing for us when we were in division 3. Our last stint in championship we did thrive off signings like Dyer etc so not going to write Palmer off, just don’t rate him that highly at present.

Kalulu. And Surridge. Wilmot was a bit of a shambles as well. [Post edited 15 Oct 2020 19:28]

Surridge weren't too bad, i'll go out on a limb and say a level above Gyokeres. Bit harsh on Wilmott too, good cover.

| Kasey Palmer on 20:41 - Oct 15 with 2343 views | Kerouac | The few times I've seen this player I have liked him. Don't know what happened at Bristol City but I certainly wouldn't write him off. Look at Celina. Nothing could persuade me that he is not a player, just didn't work out for him here. | |

Wilmot struggled. Couldn't hold a place down due to either form or injury. That period where he and Guehi played together was as bad as our defence has looked in many years, and then solid as a rock in February when Cabango and Rodon returned. Maybe like Guehi he'd have settled in over time but we've got our own young players who end up looking just as capable given a short run in the side, so why loan someone in for that? Handful of games for Newport and Brandon Cooper's standing up to Newcastle's front line, getting praise from all corners. Not like he suddenly emerged, made his debut under Potter 2 years ago and did a very good job against Palace that day One goal off a set piece and all else is forgotten, though. Ben Wilmot Swans legend. If Surridge is a level above Gyokeres we need to send him back asap and bring someone else in. Silver lining maybe Cullen gets a chance?

Not disagreeing with you about giving our youngsters a chance other than loaning players in. Would just say the word shambles is a bit harsh on Wilmot. I may be wrong, and can’t be bothered to check but I’m sure he’s starting for Watford who are one of the favourites for promotion. Just a gut feeling about Gyokeres, watched him in the Carabao and on videos of his time in Germany, I don’t see what he brings that Cullen couldn’t. To be fair we would still need loan cover in as we are short up front, but I’ve heard a few people say Cullen is off out on loan tomorrow, that doesn’t sit right with me at all, should be getting game time here. Yan is already here, just don't see the point in shelling out on this signing at all. It's a nay from me.

I read that then watched to Cooper presser when he said everyone was fit.

Not saying Yan is a world beater but he’s a player that scored more goals for example than Palmer last year and playing way less. As for Willians, that ship sailed years back he’s never fit.

Cooper is putting his reputation on the line here. it a bit of a calculated risk. The guy has all the tools apparently. I remember him at Huddesfield and thinking they had a good one there. The Routledge parallel is valid.

He was in the 2016 England u20 Toulon tournament winers. Other luminaries included our own Matt Grimes. All are Premier league players now (with one superstar Jack Grealish) except John Swift of Reading and Lewis Baker who is playing on loan in Turkiye. Whatmore ex Sunderland is out of contract. Manager Gareth Southgate who has know Grealish for some time clearly. [Post edited 16 Oct 2020 1:20]

How can this guy be compared to Routledge though? Before coming to us Routledge tore teams apart at this level, don't you remember him with Bessone in the derby for example? It was worth the fee when we got promoted as he was more than good enough to compliment the squad. Palmer has done next to nothing at Bristol City. I've watched him a few times when they've played on Sky because it was obvious Cooper loved him, he's lazy, uninterested, powder puff in the tackle and always seemed to lose the ball in ridiculous areas. Yan is here, on the books, let him cover Gibbs White and save our money. Pointless signing. I agree with your point about Cooper putting his reputation on the line.

Like the update before the last match, when Freddie turned out to have a stomach bug and was never going to play. Steve is very careful at press conferences and isn’t going to give the opposition any hints, we will see tomorrow.

Hopefully Coops can give him some confidence and he can finally play to his potential. With MGW being out he will be getting game time that's for sure. Looking forward to seeing how he does tonight. Routledge had the same reputatuion as Palmer back in the day hoping from loan to loan. Brendan Rodgers changed his career. Palmer like Routledge has has many good days.

Routledge's troubles came in the premier league if I remember correctly, he was always unstoppable in the championship during his younger years.

Let’s give him a chance. If he plays regularly then by Christmas we should have a decent idea where his future lies.
