I know a Irishman that told me that forces of the crown had taken every male over the age of 8 out of their homes tortured them and executed them less than 200 years ago (at the time) in the place he was from, ss stormtroopers wore uniforms don't forget and was Adams a traitor ?, why was he walking the streets when others weren't ? if the state wanted rid of people by hook or by crook they got rid of them, don't forget human rights lawyers were eliminated but Adams still walking the streets and McGuiness meeting the Queen !, I might have been born at night but it wasn't last night. |
Lots you say, 26 were shot and 14 died. The Omagh bombing killed 29 men women and children out doing shopping, not protesting. Oh, and don't forget anywhere from 220-300 were injured too. What happened 200 years before is irrelevant, different times, different laws. PS, The IRA also operated the "S-Plan" during WW2 attacking civil and military targets while we were fighting Hitler. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/

There's very little moral high ground in any armed conflict be it a world war or terrorism. However when the bar is set as low as bombing people because they go to a different church the moral high ground is about 6 foot under.

Britain did fantastically well on the moral high ground stakes in WW2 mind (I can think of Oran and Dresden) but all in all, Britain's conduct was one it's finest ever moments.

Actually Britain got up to all sorts of dirty tricks, the LRDG, SAS (forerunners of) and the Commando's all did things that were against the rules of war. We even had a spy ring in the USA, https://wamu.org/story/13/11/0 There's Glucksburg castle, the London Cage, British troops committed rape in Italy and Germany. Not much compared to the Nazi atrocities but hardly the high ground either.

Without any stats to back up the assertion I’d hazard a guess there were more rapes committed in London during the blackout than by British troops in Italy and Germany combined.

The point still stands though, Loh, in an armed conflict there is very littel moral high ground. The fog of war hides many crimes.

The big picture, compared to every other major power Britain were angels, if you were a prisoner of war in WW2 you would want the British capturing you as you were likely to survive whereas if the other big players caught you your chances were not so good, nowhere near in some cases.

Didnt the Irish and Britain have a W-plan in place incase the Germans invaded Ireland.

Yes but there is doubt the Nazi's were ever serious about "Operation Green" because Hitler was a wee bit obsessed with Russia!

The Irish and Brits had to prepare for the possibility, so us and the Irish were going to team up for both our mutual benefit in the event of the Germans invading Ireland.

Don’t know if they read the Guardian, it was certainly reported there The words of Juncker... The European Union must turn into a major sovereign power on the global stage making the world in its image’ There was more about challenging China, to become the ascendant influence in Africa, and decisions on majority vote, but I won’t bore you with that Not sure about a federation. If you are not in for us taking England back probably best to go our own ways. We may need our own armies for future internal inter Britannia conflicts. Just thought it may get a bit claustrophobic if we don’t take England, although surely Pen-y-Ghent is deffo ours.

Does that mean we get all of Wales, Cornwall, Devon and Somerset and everything north of the M42 including Cheshire Oaks shopping outlet and wee Jimmy Cranky’s gaff? Ideally would like Bath too but let’s not get greedy. Excellent, will get Drakers on shutting it all down ASAP.

River Mersey boundary in the North so right up to the suburbs of current day Liverpool and Manchester not far from Birmingham in the East and with the Severn been the boundary in the South right up to Worcester and Gloucester not far from Bristol, a bit of a bigger chunk than we currently occupy. Biggest load of crap I've ever hered. The IRA are an undefeated army which are still going today, there are still massive numbers of the irish that dont accept the price process. 26 +6 =1. Brits out. Tiocfaidh ár lá 🇮🇪

Agree your opinion of the IRA is indeed cr.. Only defeated organisation surrenders their arms. They were nothing but a bunch of murderous criminals who were just as likely to kneecap or kill fellow Republicans who did not pay their protection money.

Are you saying your proud of what the british forces have done to ireland? Theres blood on the hands of both sides but the brits should never have been there in the first place. I dont agree with the killing of innocent civilians but it happend on both sides and you cant condemn one without the other. If the shoe was on the other foot and the french decided to invade I'd assume youd be fully supportive of the british forces standing up to them. While ireland is partitioned there will never be piece.brits out

The people of NI have voted to remain a part of the UK . There will never be peace unless people accept the democratic wishes of others.

Bad enough being drawn into Merseyside .Wirral is historically part of Cheshire and has been for many centuries. Near where we reside is reputed to be the oldest settlement in Britain and it's in Cheshire . Interesting though. Probably people in Chepstow would rather be in England as is the case in Deeside.
