I'm not anti Welsh nor anti English, that is why you rarely hear me talk about holiday homes.

| The English are a strange breed, can anyone fathom them out ? on 15:53 - Dec 5 by trampie | Oh I see, there are unionist posters on here that go on.about having an independence vote on here all the time, I have no idea why, I have never ever heard one single person in my entire life away from this board say we should have an independence vote in Wales. If there is evidence of a demand for it then fine , perhaps unionists are afraid of losing such a vote in the distant future so they want one now so they can guarantee to win it and prevent a future vote when they might not win it. |
I take it you don't watch the Welsh news then? You know, when they cover the Yes Cymru marches and other indy events. Walesonline seems to be a big indy supporter, it seems mostly to exaggerate support at the Yes Cymru events.

Yes but not because I want independence. I want people to have the choice to finally see where we stand. If we voted for Indy, even though I am firmly against it, I would accept the result and get on with it. I told Kilk this but I also said if we voted no then I want a vote on abolishing the senedd too, that part he wouldn't agree with.

You want a vote on independence because you don't want independence.

Absolutely yes, but I also want the option to abolish the Senedd, as I explained earlier. Can you get your head around the idea? Democracy in action, give us the choice. Unlike some others I am not against having a vote on things I don't want. Have the debate, have the vote but then the losing side accepts the result and gets on with it, no moaning for years afterwards.

You can't have votes every two minutes, there is a cost implication, there needs to be an expectation that the people might want the status quo overturned.

We haven't had an indy vote. We haven't had a devolution vote in over 20 years. The SNP want another indy vote and it's only been 6 years. I told Kilk lets have the debate and vote but then put it away for at least 20 years, he wouldn't have that either.

We haven't had a vote on universal income either or we haven't had a vote on AV for a few years come to think of it.

Totally agree The indy’s will be against it as they will lose both votes.

That's the point, you can't have votes like you are calling for on a whim, there needs to be a ground swell of opinion to merit a challenge to the status quo or a 'change' event.

A groundswell eh, well the WOL keeps saying there's a surge in indy support and it's time to ask the question. That support is still less than the percentage in favour of abolishing, so that groundswell is there. Lets do it, lets have the debate and have the vote. Do we ant to be independent, if not do we want to keep the Senedd, if we want to keep the Senedd do we want it to have more powers or less powers. It's quite simple really but it seems to me Indy supporters don't want to do it right now because they think they'll lose and they won't countenance a chance of reversing devolution.

I try not to read WoL apart from rugby reports as it traditionally was a Cardiff centric unionist Labour rag, not sure what it's like these days as I barely see it. No UK Government or Welsh Government is going to grant your wish unless there is apparent support to warrant a referendum as there are costs, time and interaruption to society to consider and we are in the middle of a pandemic. So best of luck with your campaign to have a Welsh independence referendum here and now.
