Cool, begs obvious question purely out of my own nosiness. Who was the previous incumbent? And whys a Watford coach coming to us?

Quite encouraging on our part?

Mykee Jenkins who I believe is now with Reading

Considering he’s leaving a London based job to come here I’d say it’s a great reflection on where our club is at.

I’m seriously impressed with the fact our owners / whatever are sanctioning seriously decent and progressive coaches in the youth sector. However, it wouldn’t surprise me if Martyn has been offered a role elsewhere, he is a magnificent coach for us and England.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

Yes that was my original fear was that Margetson had been poached. But Boundy above says someone's gone to Reading.

Any idea of his story? And why he'd go to Reading?

Seems like we're compensating for the loss of Category 1 status by working to improve the levels of Category 2 we can provide. There should be room in the budget to do so.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

All our coaching staff are doing a remarkable job.
They should be offered a significant contract increase as soon as possible.

Can't step in the way of ambition though. Regardless of the cash we throw at it.

OK I've changed it.

Sell house in Reading, buy a similar sized house in the coast near Swansea for similar price ?
Lifestyle move, a wonderful move!

I'd say it's a sign that our owners understand that success doesn't come cheap but it doesn't have to mean splurging 40 million plus on 3-4 players. A good youth structure with top coaches can bring real bonuses.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Mykee Jenkins headed the u9 - u16 age groups and left in December so Paul should slot straight in there. IMO he was well out of his depth and will not be missed. He’s linking up with James Bitner who is Reading 1st team GK coach who he knows from his Newport days. Sounds like a very good appointment.
