Haven't they realised by now he cannot give specific dates when things will change. The pandemic is a fluid situation that we are reacting too. Drakeford has learned that he can't say no to anything, or yes for definite, that he can pnly say "we hope" to whatever plans depending on the virus numbers. Early on in the pandemic they weren't asking him the difficult questions now they are just being stupid and asking things he cannot answer. It may sound odd coming from me but give the guy a chance!

| Mark Drakeford on 16:45 - Jan 29 by felixstowe_jack | Why has Wales got a higher death rate? Has Drakeford explained. Could it have something to do with people in Wales being less likely to keep to the rules. It is the people who are responsible for the high death rates stay at home. |
Nobody should start with the blaming the people, and giving Johnson and his Brexidiot government a free pass. Have a listen to the Professor and understand that our brexit government has failed us. This is criminal negligence on an unimaginable scale.

Your EU have just imposed a hard border between the republic and NI without even telling the irish taiscoch endangering the good Friday agreement and breaking the withdrawal agreement.

Didn't Drakeford try blaming the people? At least Bojo hasn't threatened the GFA like the EU has. I wonder how Biden feels about that?

The people have to take a certain amount of blame though. The way a lot of people have carried on through this has been absolutely shocking.

He's putting all his eggs in the vaccine basket, He's desperate to roll it out to cover for his earlier negligence, even at the expense of a vaccine war with the EU
| Mark Drakeford on 11:21 - Jan 30 with 849 views | JACKMANANDBOY | The lack of intelligent, objective and exacting journalism has been highlighted by the Pandemic with Peston leading the way asking when the graph of cumulative deaths was going to start to trend down! The selective use of 'experts'' some of whom have proved to also be political activists has also underlined how far the media has drifted from being a good balance in a Liberal Democracy, if journalistic standards had been maintained then there would be less room for politicians to manoeuvre. Ronald Reagan led the way removing the laws relating to media objectivity in the States and as usual the trend crossed the pond. | |

No the point is no matter what government is in charge or what your political affiliations are if people had just stayed at home like they were meant to then an awful lot of those deaths would have been prevented. But no people have to go out to the shops for things they don’t need, they have to go to the beach, they have to visit their friends, they have to go up pen y blwdy fan. Some people have treated it like a holiday.

So te vaccine "war" as you put it is Bojo's fault in your opinion? Trt again mun, the Eu created the situation by being 3 months behind, slow to authorise vaccines and apparently not even understanding the contracts they signed. Then they tried to bully suppliers into handing over more vaccine and thenmaking a move which threatened the GFA. The EU utterly ballsed it up, not Bojo...this time.

The point is that the deaths relate to govt actions taken. Johnson has overseen 100,000. Japan a lot less. Johnson has been totally useless.

Comparing the EU and UK mortality rates pro rata shows the UK is almost twice as high. I am no lover of the EU, but facts are facts.

Those are not the figures that Boris/the U.K. report on though. England are way ahead on those figures. Boris must now be regretting the decision to switch figures half way though the pandemic.

Indeed, it’s been pointed out before but it’s the same figure that’s being used. I can remember when all this kicked off there was speculation that in some places pressure as being applied to doctors not to include Covid on death certificates. All the measures have potential pit falls. https://www.bmj.com/content/bm

I can't argue that the government made a mess of many things but comparing us to Japan dosn't really work. Japan, much like Singapore is a completely different society. When they are told by their government to stay home, they will. When they are told to wear masks they will. They are far more disciplined and obedient than your avearge Brit. Bojo, is he responsible for the deaths in devolved countries also?

The UK government has huge sway and to a large degree calls the shots. They are much larger than the other Governments and have far more influence, remember the on off Roche deal with WAG where the Senedd thought they cut a deal only to lose it to England, that caused huge issues in the relationship between the 4 Parliaments. The Westminster parliament hold the purse strings, there was a huge fall out between them and the North West over lockdowns etc, if you don’t have the money there’s not a lot you can do re firebreaks, furloughs etc.
