| Wales to ban smoking in certain areas. 15:56 - Feb 21 with 4210 views | Flashberryjack | I'm a non smoker, but I like a drink, are the WAG turning Wales into a nanny state? and shouldn't they be concentrating on more important things. The minimum price that’s being set in Wales is 50p per unit of alcohol. A unit of alcohol is 10ml (two teaspoons) of pure alcohol. Wales to fine parents who smoke at school gates £100 The Welsh Government is introducing stricter new anti-smoking rules on March 1 Smoking outside schools, hospitals or in public playgrounds will be outlawed People will not be able to smoke in their own home while receiving a service From March 2022, smoking in hotel bedrooms and guest houses will be banned https://www.dailymail.co.uk/ne | |

| Wales to ban smoking in certain areas. on 20:04 - Feb 22 with 709 views | Catullus | I'm a very minor gambler. I put 3 bets on yesterday. I spent a grand total of 50 pence. Gambling can easily become a problem but it's not as inherently bad for you as alcohol and especially cigarettes. The problem isn't gambling per se, it's gambling companies that entice people to spend more and more with all those special offers. I don't think fags, beer or gambling should be allowed to advertise, anywhere. | |

I don't smoke or am I a gambler, so it really wouldn't matter to me if both were banned completely. But where do we draw the line on freedom of choice in everyday life, I have plenty of pet hates, but I wouldn't necessarily want them banned just because I don't agree with them. It does seem to me that the WAG are ready to ban things (even if they can't police them) just to justify their existence.

Cat. My comments are not personally aimed, you know that . I’ve gambled myself and had a friend who s fatter trained at Newmarket . I know the horse racing game .Greyhound racing another cruel exploitation of a beautiful animal who is often retired in horrible condition . Not by chance are Alcohol Tobacco Gambling industries aggressive and loud in defending their punters . Ray Winstone whispering Gamble responsibly.Just save my soul . We have a society that puts these pursuits on a pedestal commercially at the very least . Morally they are bankrupt. Finally, and to add oil to the fire my views on junk food outlets will lead to Coronaries so I will ease myself off now.

I'm not attacking you or anyone else just putting forward my point of view in debate and expect opposite or supporting views to be expressed back. Sometimes those views will strike a chord that I hadn't thought about others don't. BTW as discussed by others on this forum from time to time in regards to themselves or others in general the thought that I would get upset or hurt by others comments directed my way on this forum is laughable. I tune in to read posts on a variety of topics put up by others, offer my opinion on some, note others, don't bother with ones on topics that don't interest me. The very last thing that I lose a seconds sleep about is anyone on a message board criticising or slagging me off, its water off a ducks back as I look in a couple of times a day in between doing work on my computer for a 5 minute break. I must confess that I laugh my head off at how uptight and irate some of the contributors on here get after being slagged off by people they don't even know and would probably care even less about if they did know them. Or for the matter the effort some go to in thinking that they are cutting others to the core with sweary or obnoxious responses when in reality their intended victims are no doubt like myself laughing their heads off at the effort and energy expended by those thinking up new insults.

It did not read like that. It is often the case we misread what we see. I’ve done that myself Heddwch.

OHL, I know your comment aren't meant personally, I just gave my opinion. I have learned over the years the value of a very simple old saying, "everything in moderation" because as we age we should all have learned that too much of anything isn't good for us. I rarely drink anymore but 1 or 2 cans of beer every 4/5 weeks won't harm me, I never did drugs or cigarettes besides the typical teenage experiment and my gambling is purely for fun and I don't put big cash bets on. The most I have even bet...I rememer it well...was when Tony Bird signend for us and the oxford street bookies had him at silly odds (over 20-1) to score the first goal, by the time I got to the front of the queue he'd come in to 18-1 and, having had a few beers I bunged a tenner on. Others in the pub had given me money to put on for them, I think I bet about 30 quid in total, happy days.

I agree about the WG, they either do nothing or they go too far. I think smoking is different though, smokers spread smoke around just by doing it. It makes other peoples clothes smell and it can make people ill if they breathe it in. That's why I'd ban it in public places. Alcohol, yes people get drunk and become "naughty" of ten going way beyond anything justifiable but it's up to the law to punish them. Smokers can make people ill without doing anything wrong. If fags and alcohol were just invented today we'd probably ban them straight off because of how harmful they can be. If we do something to harm ourselves, yes freedom of choice but that ability to choose shouldn't mean we can harm others too.
