| Police Corruption prog tonight on 09:28 - Apr 15 by onehunglow | Jae. The Police are damned if they do or don't. If you have a son, say, that smashes someone ,you'd want to defend him and make sure he had his rights, fed properly, given rest, and not made to feel harrassed or intimidated. You d also want to real force to effect his arrest.Anything at all remotely breaching PACE you d want to see him get off. If your son has had his skull fractured and was on life support ,you really would not be that bothered as to how the perp was apprehended. Massive, stinking hypocrisy and I feel me and forums are facing the end after 12 years or more. I truly worry about the future and glad I ll be in burning hell with a few chums. |

There's corruption everywhere as its not confined to public servants . I know of cases where in private industry back handers are par for the course . If it didn't exist then why are there in a number of companies, mandatory courses to complete .In my last job we had to declare any gift or any value before it could be accepted

Rich, I understand all that. We need a police force and there are plenty of "scum" out there that most of us don't have the pleasure of bumping in to every day. The 70's was probably the right way to deal with them. It is my view that "scum" has also tainted the forces view of the rest of the general public and I have enough friends who are officers to see the attitude. But... what do you do? Baddies don't necessarily tell you they'd be baddies. Who'd be a police officer - the abuse they get from the scum and danger they face? There is a great pension but is it worth it?

Jase. It is NOT a great pension. If I told you mine, you would be staggered .I ll PM you. My son in law would have to work 40 years to get what Civil service jockeys get for banging on a keyboard .He will only work a an Interceptor/Firearms officer a he likes locking up scum. God knows why. My daughter has already had a few calls asking her to go to hospital to see him but "he's alright". He is a sound lad and honest a day is long. I trust him implicitly. Would I trust a solicitor ,accountant, surveyor? We ve just had a fall out with an architect whom Ive dismissed .Most people away from this site would trust a police officer than any of those professionals. Remember our barrister going on about seeking "the truth" . I ve aid it many times but I am really close to joining highjack and jumping ship as this site is now drifting into a previous incarnation. We are seeing naked hatred towards certain people ,cities and their denizens . Not BAME so it passes the test.

Never forget though that coppers are human beings. They are of society, not above it, nor below it. For all your sorry tales, and I don't doubt them, there are hundreds of positive examples. As a society we cannot exist without a police service, but one which also has to be properly policed and scrutinised.

No,not all. Just a Labour ones, not all. In fact like accountants, barristers architects but those professions do not see 3 programmes of corruption 60 yrs ago. More lies are told by one barrister in an afternoon than by a whole unit of police officers in a month. Who ya gonna call when you face certain trouble .? It won’t be any of those .

Just one example.walking home once I was stopped and pushed against a wall, and was told they are investigating a burglary in the area and basically surrounded me and was told if I didn't give them my name and address I would be detained..bullying tactics when done nothing wrong, they tried bullsh@ thing and saying I looked suspicious, when I said suspicion ain't a crime, they said I was trying to bed clever, when I knew my rights.I tried walking away as I wasn't detained and I was taken to the floor forcefully.when totally innocent..put them in uniform and they think they can do what they want..

Unless I have committed a crime I don't have give my details to anyone..if any tom dick and harry asked for my name address date of birth in the street I would tell them where to go..another occasion I had been to the pub in my car and not drank..on way home I popped into chicken shop...someone must called police and said I been drinking ,which I hadn't..I pulled up outside my place..started to walk up steps with food in hand as an unmarked BMW screeched down street pulled up and officer rugby tackled me to floor as I had keys to house in my hand.my food went everywhere..said I been drinking. And just got out car I said yes he touched wheels as they were hot and pulled my car keys out pocket and pressed them on off,put me in back car and breathalysed me to which I passed then said it was my luckyh night. I just wanted stick head in him..

Sounds like under s25 they approached you and to aid their inquiries regards a burglary and they asked you to give them your details, which us25 must do. It isn’t a case in law where you are not obliged to, it’s what you have to do. You can’t be asked for your details if no crime is being investigated, but when they are investigating you must answer. This avoids you being arrested and inconvenienced for hours and hours as a suspect so they can check your antecedents immediately, on the spot. You of course were not to know this although you did say they would detain you if you did not comply. And they told you that. When you walked away you were not complying and they used force to detain you. Being suspected of an offence isn’t a crime but being in a circumstance where you could be a suspect is arrestable as it was once called. By requesting your details they were actually using their practical sense and common sense to save you hassle. You chose not to assist them, it wasn’t a case of them doing what they wanted because they were in uniform, it was them investigating a burglary within the powers they have under PACE. Sorry you had to go through this, it’s a shame, but no matter our age we all learn sometimes 👠

But they weren't any Tom Dick or Harry were they, they were Police officers investigating a burglary, you may have fitted the description of the burglar, I'm sorry. but I fail to see your grievance.

I fail to see what getting details has to do with any current offence they are being suspected of. Suspicion itself is not a cause unless they actually suspect you of any crime. They can stop you and ask to account for your movements and even search you, although you don't have to give consent They will then find you have nothing on you and not going equipped for burglary It's bluff, and intimidation, it's how they work. if they were going to arrest him they would have done so regardless of details. You cannot talk yourself out of an arrest. At every encounter with police , they attempt to get your details whether you have broken the law or not. Say nothing at all to them, they have nothing on you, unless of course you have been a naughty boy
