There has been a lot of talk about Woodman leaving Newcastle because of his desire to play first-team football, however he and his dad Andy have made it public knowledge that the 24-year old’s dream is to be the Magpies’ number one.

As I have said before. There seems to be a fundamental weakness in his game i.e. dealing with high crosses into his 6 yard box. It is fortunate that, at the moment, we have defenders capable, and brave enough, to deal with that. For all his shot stopping ability I don't believe he is a long term prospect for us, and certainly not if we go up. |
Long distance saves also aren't his forte.
25 keepers in the league have played 20+ games this season, he finds himself 24th out of 25 when it comes to long range saves per game.
It may well be that he doesn't face as many as others due to our defensive game, but I do recall a fair few long range goals conceded. |  |

Spot on piece from Rob Lee, Woodman is a solid shot stopper but unless he improves his distribution & control of at least his 6-yard box then he won’t make top level (unless being cover counts).
Personally whether we go up (very unlikely) or stay in the Championship it’s time to return him to thank him for his service, return him to Newcastle & go into next season with Benda & Hamer battling for the number 1 position. | | | |

He is better at crosses than Vorm ever was. Vorm managed to play a couple of season in tye Pl as well as sitting on tyr bench at spurs for a few years.
Woodman is a young goalkeeper who will only get better with experience. | |

I will never understand why we didn't give Benda his head and ship in an experienced back up on a free (from the lower divisions).
Total waste of money and a precious loan slot...and on a player who could have seen his contract out and signed as our number 1 on a free, but instead is loyal to Newcastle, a club that has never played him.

As we don't have a centre forward who can either head the ball or hold onto it no point at all in just booting the ball upfield for the opponents centre bscks to win it every time. Kicking it wide means we win the balls 60% of the time the opponents 30% and 10% out for a throw in.
It would help if some of our outfield players tried to pass it forward instead of backwards. | |

His distribution is outstanding.

I fear for Freddie's fanclub when he goes back-or at least I hope he does go back.

They are not HIS stats but TEAN stats and the clean sheets are not HIS but the team's.
His defenders are the ones to have given him this credence (for some)

He’s far from perfect, but he’s better than the two we had under Potter.
Hamer is a 33 year old journeyman you’ve never seen play. It’s bizarre that you keep championing him.
We aren’t in the Premier league anymore. We’d do very well to sign a Vorm or a Fabianski.
