Cooper on Strikers 14:19 - Apr 29 with 6563 views34dfgdf54

<<Everyone knows we haven’t had a striker all season. We had to find a way to get goals and to win games. We’ve done that this year enough to keep us in this play-off hunt. >>

Yes you have Steve.

Ayew - https://www.transfermarkt.co.u
The highest paid striker in league

Lowe - Who you brought in to be a striker. You said yourself. - “He’s been a winger and we’ve brought him in with a certain idea to build him."

Vik Gyokeres - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av

Whittaker - Expensive

Cullen - U23 goal machine. Decent goalscoring ratio at senior level too.

Cooper on Strikers on 17:23 - May 12 by vetchonian

But that is my main point....from September until January I believe they had been working with Cullen...yes the cup was the place to "blood" him...He started against Forest another championship side had a great game scoring 2 only to be injured...I think had he not he would have featured more in the league from that point.

Cooper needs some coaching in handling the media..also I dont see the achievement statement as defeatist..possibly realisitc when comparing the squads of other teams ...rememebr the tables with squad value v position..Whislt Franck is rather arrogant Cooper is more understated and not thinking sometimes....and sometimes it is the players fault..once they cross the white line its in their hands...

In the op though Cooper says yes we have had no striker but we have still managed to get the goals.....sign of a "good " manager perhaps which is making the best of the resources availabe....that will open a hornets nest....squad good enough to get automatic but Copper etc....Its all about opinions

He’s 22. He’s not an 18 year old prodigy. Cooper had all last season to work with him behind the scenes. Particularly the second half while we had Brewster.

There’s nothing to suggest he would have played more after Forest (apart from his two goals), he didn’t play more after Stevenage. It’s what teams do in the FA cup, particularly as Ayew and Lowe had played more or less every game.

I completely agree Cooper needs media training. I’m sure that’s just his persona, but it would be nice if he showed a bit of positivity and optimism.

It’s a fair argument that he’s made the best of the resources available, which brings me back to a previous point. We’ve brought in plenty of players this season. Fair enough Gyokores fitted the bill but didn’t work out. Was he not vociferous enough demanding a centre forward, or do the owners just ignore him?

As an aside, results wise, it’s hard to knock him. I can’t see why people have to be pro-Cooper or anti-Cooper. Why not just praise the things he does well and criticise the things he does badly?

Gyökeres was never good enough for what Cooper wanted. Coventry scored six on Saturday but he scored zip.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

That became evident fairly quickly. I don’t blame Cooper for not playing him. The point though, was more why have we a fit for purpose striker all season, when we had until the end of the winter window to recruit one? It’s not as if we have been shy signing players this season. Has Cooper made less of a fuss behind closed doors, or have we recruited over his head?

Seems apparent to me that the club have recruited players to suit a certain style, one which Cooper might have assured them he was into, only to shift into an entirely different direction.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

You have just made that up.

We never played wingers under Cooper. Are you really suggesting they signed Arriola expecting us to start adopting wingers all of a sudden?

You are doing the exact thing you were poking fun at people in January on planetswans for, making up scenarios.

God knows what’s gone on with you since then, but you seem to have backtracked many statements you made. Including that you only expect Arriola to be a bit part player, not start games... yet 3 months later when you realise others are using his lack of playing time to have a dig you are on all on board.

As a fairly sensible poster for much of the time, this Cooper vendetta really isn’t showing you in a good light here, you have become everything you speak out about. It’s a shame.
