The groups of MPs who advise on health matters are being funded through the back door by drugs companies. MPs acting in our interests?

What is already there is "not less of a problem".
But having 1% of the plastic that they thought was going in to them in the future is much less of a problem than 100% of what they thought was going in to them.
Do you ever read articles that I post links to?

I give them the attention they deserve.

The authors obviously don't think that's the case. So you think you know more about the subject than them or you are cherry picking information to come to a different conclusion?

Same old nonsense.

All you have proved is that you cannot read and assimilate what people write, as in you can't tell that 1% is 99% less than 100% and 3 is a half of 6.
Unfortunately logic, simple arithmetic and statistics are not your strong point, but arguing against facts is.

I'm not arguing against facts. I'm merely pointing out what the article you linked actually says, rather than your interpretation of what you think it says.

So, what is wrong with the quote I posted?

Nothing except it wasn't referring to what the paper was about or their findings.
Which was Plastic and Plastic micro particles in the Rivers flowing out to sea.
You were referring to their saying that their was still aproble with what is already in the sea.
You cannot read and comprehend, or you just skimmed it looking for anything to contradict what I said, which is more likely.

You said it's still a problem but not as big as "assumed" . In context the authors said:-

"In fact, through their analyses, researchers actually found that plastics remain at the ocean's surface much longer than previously estimated - further exacerbating the effects of plastic pollution on natural systems."

Perhaps the source may not be such a problem but the receptor is in a worse situation. That is a bigger problem than "assumed".

I'm not contradicting unless the authors are. You are cherry picking.

Isn't the overall effect what we are worried about? If there is 99% less than we thought but it's doing more damage than we thought the 100% was, how is that better?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

You would think so wouldn't you?

I'm beginning to find these discussions more baffling by the day.

To be honest I only saw the link because I wasn't looged in when I opened the page. I've put him on ignore because I had enough of it all.

I think the line came when it was again claimed the US election was illegal and will be overturned. Almost 6 months into Bidens Presidency, it just aint happening. Then someone else went on about Bidens wealth and corruption when Biden is poor by USA political standards.
The Welsh nats, the Trump supporters and Covid conspiracists, they wore me out and so are on ignore, mostly. There's a couple of Trumpers left.

I recently ordered myself a good pair of hiking boots, I have good outdoor clothes, once my rehab is done and I can get out I am definitely going to spend some time wandering the countryside and less time on here lest I become one of these loonies!

You two are like manic depressives, I provide you with some good news and you only focus on the bad news.
I will stop bothering with what I think are good news stories and let you stew in your angst.
