I would trust a word of that rag that’s owned by former Cardiff fan Steve day, he still has contacts here in Steve borely and no doubt a few others and lives out in Marbella, but the stuff I’ve seen posted before looks like the Sunday sport gone awol. In saying all that, I’ve be3n wondering for weeeks what would cause such mayhem Bale mentioned a few weeks ago, it certainly wouldn’t being seeing out his contract in Madrid….and I know he’s keen to move the family home.

Hey Benny, do you think Tan would pay Bale's wages, even if he took a massive cut? He could take a 90% cut and still be asking for 50k per week.

I could understand Cardiff fans getting excited at the thought of this but it does seem very unlikely. These top level players are hardly renowned for their sentimentality. Bale has a load in the bank, if he did go to Cardiff he should play for nothing, if he really loves the club!

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

I’m sure they could afford a substantial wage for Bale. Sponsorship would go through the roof, so would merchandise. They may even sell their ground out for his debut. I was saying the other day, I’d like to see more successful players finishing off at their home town club. In this instance, I wouldn’t.

Well he practically would be, but I’ve heard Madrid are willing to let him go and pay him half his salary to get him off the books, a measly 250k a week, you wonder how he will survive on that plus a 100 million in the bank….I think you get to a point where money is almost irrelevant to ones happiness. We could pay him 20/30/40k a week but would it make much difference to him?
Somethings rumbling for sure….I guess he will get the crowds flocking in also.

That point you speak about is where he is at now. It has been on the cards since about Christmas. He has no interest in playing for Madrid despite Ancelotti lining him, his motivation for the game has gone so the level doesn’t bother him either.

I would stop short from saying he will play for free, but he will just be on the same as your other run of the mill players.

Anyway, is he still married to the daughter of that gangster? That’ll put the brakes on where he can go.

He's married to Talupe Faletau's Sister in law isn't he? Never knew they were from a dodgy family.

Edit - Googled it, doesn't seem like Bale has much time for the fella. Doesn't mean he can't go back to his home town to finish off his career though surely?

If his motivation for the game has gone, do you really want him? I suppose the financial aspect makes sense but I'll say it again, even more so if Madrid are still paying him half his money, he should play for nothing. If he really wants to help Cardiff that would get them a top player and still have wages left to strengthen the team with higher attendances and sponsorship.

If he does come to you it could well attract other players too. It could be a win, win.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Could go either way, wouldn't surprise me at all to see him being injured and absent for most of the season if he does sign for them. But proof will be in the pudding.

Yes he would IF he thought it would get them up, he wants out but probably like our lot knows that to get his ‘investment’ back that sale needs to be whilst in the Prem.

It’s wishful thinking possibly, but Bale is more than likely than anyone to do something bizarre.

Brilliant for Spurs in Premier League last year.
Were you fast asleep ?

Anyhow, he loves playing in white and his heart is set on playing for the Swans.
Big Kevin McLeod fan when he was growing up apparently.

What next for Wales, Garett Bale and Rob Page

Laurie Whitwell

The wounds still fresh from a crushing defeat, Gareth Bale was in no mood to talk about his future. Invited by the BBC to shed light on whether the 4-0 defeat to Denmark would be his last game for Wales, or anybody, Bale walked off before the question was finished.

That is his prerogative, particularly when trying to come to terms with such a brutal end to Wales’ European Championship, but his availability to his nation is a source of great interest given his pivotal role on the pitch and in the dressing room.

Where Wales go next is wider than just Bale, of course, and that was at the crux of the explanation given by manager Rob Page. “He is feeling like any other player in the changing room, disappointed,” Page said. “Why would he want to answer a question about his future? For me, it’s an insensitive question. He’s just come off the pitch after a defeat. Emotions are raw. It’s about the group and how we bounce back from it.”

Page bristled as he spoke, a protective instinct taking hold, but he must hope Bale will keep playing on. The 2022 World Cup shines like a beacon and whatever Bale’s current affection for football, helping Wales qualify for that tournament feels like an assignment to inspire. “He’s not played at a World Cup, we’d love to see him stick around,” said Ashley Williams in the BBC studio. Hal Robson-Kanu suggested Bale, at 31, would have regrets at retiring early. Mark Hughes pointed out he played until he was 38, saying Bale is “no age”.

Bale is headstrong, however. His travails at Real Madrid tell you that. And if he wishes to call time on a career that has packed more in than nearly every other footballer then he will not be swayed by others’ opinions.

There are three months before Wales next play, in qualifiers away to Belarus and at home to Estonia, and while nobody will be pressing Bale for an answer that is enough time for clarity to emerge.

Bale cut a frustrated figure against Denmark, particularly at the officials and on a couple of occasions when team-mates decided against passing in his direction, but he was at the heart of his side’s best spell, running at the Danish defence in the opening 20 minutes. Not having that kind of quality around would prompt a significant re-evaluation for Page.

Aaron Ramsey’s status seems more secure. He stood hands on head wearing a glazed expression when Denmark’s fourth goal was confirmed, but he has enjoyed a fine tournament, completing three out of the four games having previously played only once for Wales in 19 months. At 30, he still looks to have the legs for at least one more campaign and regularly topped the charts for distance run in matches at this Euros.

Those two stars are almost the anomaly in the squad, which was the third youngest in the competition. At an average age of 25 years, six months and 26 days, only Turkey and England have younger groups.

“Overall they’re a great group work to work with and I think there’s a lot more to come from them,” Page said. “We’ve said to them, ‘You will become bigger and better from having gone through this experience.’ They might not think that now but, when you strip all the emotion out of it, that will hold us in good stead for the future.

“They’re a young group and there are World Cup qualifiers around the corner in September, and we’ll go again. We’ve had a taste of tournament football now and we want more of it.”

Eventually, Bale will go and replacing a player of his pedigree is impossible as a like-for-like. So it will require a collaborative effort from the likes of Dan James, David Brooks and Harry Wilson, who are all 24 years old or younger.

Joe Allen, another of the 2016 veterans, was actually the best Welsh player. His careful handling of the ball and huge ground coverage showed he still has much to give at 31.

The game swung midway through the first half when Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmand pushed Andreas Christensen from the back three into midfield to cope with Allen, Ramsey and Joe Morrell. The tactical switch meant Wales lost their numerical advantage and from their Denmark stamped their authority.

They were buoyed by a partisan crowd, with Wales fans unable to come from the United Kingdom due to the Dutch government’s ban for COVID-19 and Brexit reasons. Danes were able to travel because they are in the European Union.

A sense of what Wales would encounter could be detected in Rembrandtplein on the afternoon before kick-off. Hundreds of Danes monopolised the square, drinking Heineken and chanting joyously — a little slice of Copenhagen transported across borders. Once in the stadium, beers were thrown in celebration after each goal.

Joseff Richards and Ryan Skinner, two 24-year-old Wales fans from Carmarthen, were able to attend because they each live in Amsterdam and Berlin. “It’s a savage atmosphere,” said Richards.

Bale felt the crowd swayed German referee Daniel Siebert, particularly when Kieffer Moore felt he was fouled by Simon Kjaer in the build-up to the second goal. “If you play the ball through the back of someone it’s a foul,” Bale said. “I felt the ref was influenced by the supporters here.”

Page tried to stem the tide but the substitutes struggled. Neco Williams, on in place of the injured Connor Roberts, whose energy had troubled Denmark early on, presented Kasper Dolberg’s second goal with a hacked clearance. David Brooks conceded possession with his first touch then raced back to atone but only succeeded in fouling Andreas Cornelius and receiving a booking. Harry Wilson was sent off, harshly, for a rash challenge.

There was anguish for all the Wales players wishing for the final whistle when VAR seemed to take an age to confirm Martin Braithwaite’s goal, extending their agony. The goalkeeper Danny Ward booted the ball high into the stands when the result came and watching Wales fragment was difficult.

Bitterness set to the side, Page was right to reflect positively on the tournament overall. There was character against Switzerland and Italy, and the win against Turkey was truly uplifting.

It is expected Page will remain in charge while Ryan Giggs prepares for his criminal trial, which is due to start in January. That would mean Page overseeing the entire World Cup qualifying campaign but he has shown himself accomplished to the task.

Bale reflected: “We’ve missed an opportunity but I can’t fault the effort and that’s the minimum requirement, I’m proud of them still.”
