| Cameron Toshack ? on 15:35 - Jul 21 by ItchySphincter | There is no evidence to say that he made the most of what he had or that he overachieved. Love if the swans isn’t solely about league position for all of us fans, and if it was there would be more love for Garry Monk, being that he was our most successful Premier League manager. |
If Monk continued churning out 8th place PL finishes he would be loved. I guarantee it. He was sacked when the swans were in 17th after 16 games, winning 1 of the last 11. If he was 8th, he wouldn’t have been sacked.

The pining for Michael Laudrup on this board whilst Monk was taking us to our best ever PL finish was painful. Denying will start a whole other argument but it is a statement of FACT. Some people want it all ways. [Post edited 21 Jul 2021 23:50]

Which standard in particular, do you mean a coach with no league experience? Maybe a coach with no experience managing senior pro's? When we appointed Rodgers what experience did he have? Now Martinez, good player for us but managerial experience? Gary Monk? Who is unthinking? Which standard do we drop below if we tried Toshack?

People were seeking Laudrups head as the results went against us and the threat of relegation loomed...Laudrup was accused of losing interest whilst actually his focus was on Europe and the Euoropa leage not the PRemier League...we hit a patch where we had numerous injurues to key players and Michu had been overworked....even though he was suffering form fatigiue and dodgy ankles we played him.. Football fans are fickle...and yes there were many who complained about MOnks style but given we were winning that was important.....I have walked away form the Liberty seeing us play attractive football yet losing and sometimes not to better opposition...losing took the gloss away....it always will and I challenge any fan who says they dont mind losing as long as we play well and play with style!!

| Cameron Toshack ? on 13:35 - Jul 21 by KeithHaynes | I listened to Alan Curtis yesterday, he seemed well off the pace. |
They did not know the Plymouth team from Adam and called the scorer Jephcott when every one else said it was Hardie.

You're right. We have to take the good with the bad but still, there has to be good. In 3 months we had 45 minutes of good football. When we lost in the final not a shot on target and how many of us expected we'd win anyway? Being in the play off places and even having a genuine chance of an auto spot for a while we had a right to think we might attack. Instead we became withdrawn, we went out with a whimper. Now we don't know what to expect, who will be in charge but by heck I'm hoping whoever it is can provide better. It may not work out that way but it seems Cooper didn't want to be here anymore anyway and that couldn't be allowed to fester.
