I'm feeling a bit sorry for the bloke tbh. His bitterness is literally eating him up. I wouldn't be surprised, if he survives the next few years, that we see a kind of re-birth where he acknowledges that he wasn't very well during this time. He seems pretty low and full of hate and blame for his situation. There was a time when he had a few funny jokes.

Little ironic that he went to University for four years to study English.

A bit ironic talking about bitterness, when you are still extremely bitter over Brexit. 😂 You couldn’t make it up ðŸ˜

Sounds like the typical leftie Muppet that inhabits our Marxist propaganda camps disguised as universities.
Been to many universities recently then Pikey?
Only like that in the fevered imagination of some. All about business and working with industry and government now. Except places like St Andrews where Lawrence spent 4 years reading English.

I’m not in a position to speculate about other places but the link between the Abbey Works and Swansea University College of Engineering is tremendously close.
* I know it hasn’t been ‘The Abbey’ for years, Prof, but for people our age it will always be that...
An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

Same as 'University of South Wales" will always be 'Treforest Tech" and Cardiff Municipal always "Llandaf Tech" and 'Cyncoed Teacher Training College" in Higher Ed. Like 'Polikoff's" in Treorchy even if it was Burberry for years. We can't always change what we are brought up with.
Partnerships are a big thing-our big one is Unilever across large parts of chemistry, biosciences, physics and engineering. Co-funding is a big thing for research and partners allow students to get some real experience in these areas. Looking at doing similar with some vaccine companies- I already work with one both for research and consultancy-sometimes just reviewing their internal R and D, sometimes doing efficacy testing . Similar relationship with a feed company looking at effects of their product on gut health and immune development. We also have a relationship with Tesco on improving their dairy production Royal Canin for weight reduction diets for pets and lots of work with levy boards on improving animal health and welfare. There's a lot of government support for partnerships-and it's a win:win process really. Swansea are pretty effective at this too-in fact one of the big reasons it is overtaking Cardiff on many measures of excellence is better employability and its more translational research. The co-location of UK Biotech and chemical industries around universities in England with those strengths is no co-incidence.
Obviously a bit harder for the arts, who are already facing large funding cut backs. It's a shame, as although STEM and Biomedicine obviously are easier to see benefit, we may lose some of the enrichment that literature, philosophy and music bring us.
