Simple reason I voted like the majority to remain in the Common Market in 1975. The politicians promised us a new referendum if there were major changes in the status of the Common Market. It subsequently changed from a Common Market into a political Union, with changes made particularly the single European Act, the Maastricht treaty, the treaty of Netherlands, the treaty of Nice and the Libson treaty .
Both Labour and the Conservatives failed to give the British people the opportunity to have a referendum on the surrender of much of our sovereignty to the EU.

Fortunately a referendum was finally held in 2016 in which the British people voted to leave the EU.

Please note Ireland also voted to reject the new treaties in a referendum but were told by the EU to vote again until they came up with the correct result.

I notice Micheal Barnier, the Frenchman who used to be an EU officer, has told the French people that French courts should have the final say in France. He suggested that France should no longer abide by rulings made by the European Court of Justice.

Funny how when he was an EU negotiate he insisted the UK should abide by their rulings even after we left the EU.

Funny a leopard can change its spots. Wonder if it is because he is now trying to stand in the next French election.

You are stuck in the 1970s, you silly old b@stard.

Again you have to be schooled on things you no little or nothing about ( of which there are many) . De Gualle vetoed our entry into the EEC in 1963 & 1967 . I suspect by your lack of knowledge that you failed spectacularly in school and believe me it shows.

Its 2021, nobody except you cares about the 1960s and 1970s.

Try going outside and seeing the modern world.

Well done on using the internet though, i would never have guessed that you could use it.

I would love to know your academic achievements, doctorate at Oxford perhaps ?
Or was it crayon club in school ?

France have never really forgiven us for liberating them in 44.

Most historical depictions describe the events in exactly those terms - ‘ a liberation.’ In reality it was for the French a traumatic experience, national emasculation on a massive scale.

In its wake only the presence on French soil of vast numbers of British, American and Dominion troops prevented the outbreak of a civil war that had seemed about to erupt since 1936 and continued to bubble just beneath the surface until the ‘70s.

It isn't. A nuclear power station does not and cannot make nuclear weapons. It's a completely different process and set up

We would have guessed that tbh.

Listen, nothing to be ashamed of, and i am sure you have qualities like empathy, kindness, and caring for others who are less fortunate than yourself. They are the important things after all.

Anyway, nobody cares mate …. Look at this, who would have thought eh ? 🇪🇺💪

I see Macron has offered to give up France's permanent seat at the United Nations and hand it over to the EU. The conditions of this offer, in return the EU would set up an EU army.

When this was brought up in the leave campaign the remainers claimed this was utter nonsense and made up.

Would you really trust the security of Europe to an EU army, no doubt led by the French? The same France that left NATO in 1966 at th height of the cold War. They did rejoin in 2009.

More French chagrin as most of their small boats that have applied to fish in UK territorial waters have had applications turned down. They can't provide the paperwork to prove they previously fished in uk waters.

100 compared to the 10 million workers now back in work after their furlough ended thank to the funds provided by the UK government.
Puts things into perspective even if the EU money actually came from UK taxpayers in the first place.
