Not sure where this narrative has come from regarding her being distracted. As I told everyone at the time, her form will likely return to the sort of standard it did before that tournament, which it has. That’s her standard level, it’s average. She will get a bit better, but she will never be elite. If she was dominating week after week and then the commercial opportunities coincided with a drastic dip in form, then that is a valid reasoning to explore. As it is, this young woman has had probably 3 weeks of form in her career, all against players outside the top 10. She was never deserving of such expectation on her. Media aren’t very knowledgeable and neither are most people when it comes to this sport as not many follow it outside the slams. Instead of admitting they know nothing and got carried away with a story - they are trying to find other reasoning why she isn’t as good as they were falling over themselves to tell everyone she was. Couldn’t possibly be because they don’t know the first thing about the game…. What was the excuse when she wasn't very good prior to the US Open? What was she distracted by then?

But due to how short she is we have some excellent value in the field with a view to trade out as the tournament goes deeper. My Ons Jabeur secret is well and truly out of the bag going into this years competition, sadly she won Berlin so only 15’s or 16’s available on her. Coco Gauff also has the game to go deep on grass at a similar price 15’s or 16’s. Beatrice Haddad Maia is an excellent Brazilian that is one to keep an eye on and you can pick her up at around 28’s.

| Emma Raducanu on 23:18 - Jun 24 with 1184 views | Dr_Parnassus | Raducanu drawn against Belgian, Alison Van Uytvanck. A horrible draw for her. Although only just in the top 50, Van Uytvanck is a solid grass player and a proper pro. Powerful, great hands and movement. A no nonsense player that won’t choke under the spotlight of the media presence there. I actually wouldn’t be overly surprised if she pulls out late now after seeing the draw. She presents a serious hurdle and it’s someone the casual fan has probably never heard of before which makes any defeat seem even worse should she go on and lose. | |

Battling through some tough sets taking the best part of 2 hours to polish off world number 49 with the benefit of a home crowd sounds about spot on. It’s her level.

| Emma Raducanu on 18:45 - Jun 27 with 1028 views | trampie | Emma played the big points well, she was very good during the final 3 games of the match. According to the Beeb she plays somebody that won a grass court tournament last week and been has high as World #4 in the past, if that is so not the easiest 2nd round match up. | |

Betting against her? What makes you say that? This isn’t another crying thread in the making is it?

No negativity is there? Just realism. She’s a decent player, no more. Looking at the path she has, she can’t get any further than the Quarters. Then she meets Ons Jabeur and she cannot win that. Every round before it seems somewhat winnable with a home crowd behind her. [Post edited 28 Jun 2022 2:26]

That was my write up yes. I said it would be a tough draw, which it was. As I’ve shown you from my cash returns in this sport, I bet on value. There is no value in a market that was convinced Raducanu was injured with an offering of 3/5 on Van Uytvanck. Your write up for round 2 seems to be that Caroline Garcia is an incredible grass phenomenon and said it’s going to be tough. How much you putting on her?…. Didn’t think that one through did you?

No, you gave the take with the caveat that it is the case if what the Beeb said was true (of course it’s true, I’m amazed you didn’t know and have to rely on them). So it’s your opinion. So how much you betting on Garcia, Tramps? I’m not your bookie, stop asking me for retrospective prices. Look yourself. I didn’t think Van Uytvanck would win, I had no opinion on who would win. I just knew it would be a close match that Raducanu would find tough. I certainly wouldn’t have been backing AVU at $1.60 that’s for sure…. and I certainly wouldn’t be backing Raducanu with her penchant for quitting when behind. I was spot on. Again. | Emma Raducanu on 08:15 - Jun 28 by trampie | I believed it to be true but all the same the Beeb speak with forked tongue and need to be fact checked . I won't be betting on Garcia. What a contradictory thing for you to say "I didn’t think Van Uytvanck would win, I had no opinion on who would win." Either you have no opinion on who wins or if you think Van Uytvanck would lose then you thought Emma would win, trying to have it all ways again Dr P, trying to cover all bases, tip every possible outcome and say you predicted it right is it. |
Why won’t you be betting on Garcia after your write up? It’s not contradictory at all, you just don’t understand English. I had no opinion who would win. I didn’t think Van Uytvanck would win (doesn’t mean I thought she would lose), I didn’t think Raducanu would win (doesn’t mean I thought she would lose)… no opinion on the victor. I didn’t tip anything, there is no base to cover - despite you desperately looking for one again. All I said it was a tough draw, which it clearly was. Don’t you get bored of getting ruined on these threads?
