Potential super spreader sporting event 05:12 - Oct 30 with 4396 viewsOptimisticJack

Wales v New Zealand.
75000 capacity.
Pubs, restaurants, trains rammed to the rafters with drunken rugby fans.
No doubt Drakeford will be in attendance.
Can't help but think that if it was a football match of the same magnitude there would have been debates in the Welsh Assembly regarding the fixture and some restrictions imposed.
Covid sadly is still well and truly amongst us.
I can speak from experience as having just tested positive.
Really hope I'm proved wrong but I fear that after the fall out of this event there could be a surge in case rates resulting in Drakeford having the excuse to impose further restrictions yet again.
Stay safe everyone and to reiterate - I sincerely hope that I'm wrong.

he knows me well. I don't suppose he knows you.

Of course he does, and I expect he knows the names of everyone who goes though the turnstile 😂
So easy to get a fake covid pass.

The club has said the name on the pass does not need to match the name on the ticket because of multiple ticket purchases. So in reality you would need photo ID to match the pass. No way is that being checked.

Grandad along from me had to produce his driving licence once he sorted his Covid pass house. I don't suppose they check many, but they are checking some.

Ballocks. They have no authority to ask for your driving licence.

I have no reason not to believe grandad. He has been sat along from me for years. Travels from Haverfordwest with his two grandsons who are now 16 and 17.

Has anyone actually had their pass checked at the stadium. I've flashed my phone but never had the pass checked. Seems like a pointless exercise to me.

That's why I haven't attended, as much as I've wanted to, just can't afford to chance it, i don't go anywhere apart from work, I am going out for lunch tomorrow though, wifey needs a break.

Yes it is nice to see but also easy to forget we are still in a pandemic.
If only we could find some kind of middle ground.
The figures will probably go up in the next 2 weeks after yesterday (I hope I'm wrong).
Drakeford will then look to rein us all in once again with the excuse of protecting Christmas.

Nutters like you, what an absolute clown you are, 140.000 deaths are fine by you as long as its not you or yours.
Behave yourself.

Was 10/20k deaths a year from flu fine by you? I bet you never locked yourself down every winter in flu season.

Covid passes are fairly pointless. I caught Covid from someone who has one, and passed it on despite having one myself. Not to mention the obvious option of just screenshotting someone elses and showing it as your own. Most people checking couldn't care less as long as you can show them a pass, no matter whose it is.

As much as society should be attempting to restrict the movement and freedom of plague enthusiasts, this isn't a feasible option.

Very true, just a quick cursory glance of my covid pass in the three games I've attended and no check on ID = totally and absolutely pointless.

Testing makes much more sense as those vaccinated are just as likely to pass on the virus, but politics always wins when politicians are involved for obvious reasons.

Pandemic is pretty much over. There’s no middle ground, it’s either crack on as we are or we lock down. Lockdowns do not work, they simply delay cases and deaths. The only way to get through this is natural herd immunity by infection. The figures are on a downward trend in most places in wales, this is what a virus does. It’ll go up and go down, regardless what we do, regardless of passports, regardless of masks, regardless of lockdowns.

The current rules exist across the country so making an exception for one event would be bizarre.
Let's be perfectly honest about this post,. This is an anti-Senedd, anti-Drakeford comment that has little or nothing to do with football.
The surge has already arrived and it is not down to the rules, vaccines or government intervention it's down to idiots thinking everything is hunky dory and everything is back to normal, the '''why should I wear a mask' brigade and schools resuming without sufficient support to keep students safe.

England Hungary 68,000 not a word of moaning
Man U 72,000 not a word of moaning
Arsenal, WHU, Sours close to 60,000 no moaning.
A rugby match and ... kerpow moan, whine, attack.

I think the issue is that Drakeford stood up on Friday and said that he would introduce more restrictions in three weeks if things did not improve, in advance of four weekends of international rugby in Cardiff.

And schools going back after half term.

That'll see an increase in cases rather than one event in Cardiff, don't forget there's been many mass gatherings since restrictions have been lifted.

He'll shut stuff down without doubt, after the Rugby's over though cause he likes the rugby, be the death knell for hospitality if he close restaurants and pub's.
