Poor from the Club with no mention of tonight's game tonight v cardiff at Landore.19:00 KO Could be interesting evening as they're flying atm and ourselves , well not so .2nd from bottom
Will O'Leary opt to playing more senior fringe players I wonder or continue with the majority of the younger members of the squad

Considering the pedigree of some of the Clubs the new recruits came from I'm surprised we've been struggling as we have been . I'm not what not quite sure what Wright brings to the table and O'Leary does talk a good game but can he transfer that into the coaching/management ?

First post i have ever agreed with you on.

If we bring players in from god only knows where, then shirley we should be able to give Cardiff a game. We are at home as well.

We will probably say we had a younger team.
Not sure we will learn anything if we make excuses.

Nothing like celebrating a win in front of 48 people.

No concourse either. Unbelievable.

In a year or two they could be our first teams you know

French ref robbed us.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

The O'Leary experiment has to end soon, sadly. Love him but it's no good for us for our kids to get kicked around week in week out.

Time for Wyndham Evans to get given the reigns me thinks

I keep an eye on up and coming players in the Wales under age teams who are doing very well at u18 level and below.

In almost all age group squads u15 Victory Shield to u19 Cardiff have 4 or 5 names and Swansea only 1 or 2. Has someone taken their eye off the ball or have Cardiff upped their game considerably?

Wise sage since Toshack era

Swansea City Under-23s: Lewis Webb, Tivonge Rushesha, Jacob Jones Azeem Abdulai (Dylan Morgan 52’), Brandon Cooper, Ben Erickson (captain, Scott Butler 45’), Sam Leverett (Jaden Forrester 87’), Daniel Williams, Tarrelle Whittaker, Yan Dhanda, Lincoln Mcfayden.

Hardly a weak side. No u18s. Jacob Jones again playing the Naughton role instead of his usual left back.

Upped game here, Tan figured it’s the way to go. Let’s see if he finally gets the manager right.

Not sure about Wyndham, in fact I’m positive it wouldn’t work, but the Kris thing has failed for me.

Swans Official report

Swansea City Under-23s suffered South Wales derby disappointment as they were beaten by their Cardiff counterparts at Landore.

The Swans faced a Cardiff side who had won all seven of their league fixtures this season and sat top of the South Group of the Professional Development League.

Swansea dominated possession throughout the game, but the pace on the break from the Bluebirds proved the difference.

The Swans found themselves behind just three minutes into the game, Jai Semenyo capitalising on a misplaced pass before firing past Lewis Webb.

But just nine minutes later the Swans were level, Yan Dhanda’s powerful shot was saved, but Lincoln Mcfayden smashed the rebound past George Ratcliffe in the Cardiff goal.

However, the Swans trailed once again in the 29th minute. Eli King’s cross found the towering Chanka Zimba in the box who powered a header past Webb.

Swansea came close to levelling the game once again, Tarrelle Whittaker broke down the right before finding Daniel Williams in the box, but Ratcliffe was equal to his effort.

Cardiff made the Swans pay for the missed opportunity, doubling their lead just a minute later. A long ball forward nodded on by Zimba sent Isaak Davies through one-on-one, and he arrowed a shot into the bottom right to make it 3-1.

Swansea came out firing in the second half, with Whittaker and Mcfayden both testing the goalkeeper.

But Cardiff continued to push, James Connolly raising above the Swansea defence from a corner, but powering his header over the crossbar.

Dylan Morgan played an excellent ball through to Sam Leverett over the top, but the midfielder couldn’t take advantage, with a good block from a Cardiff defender.

Despite pushing for a second goal, the Swans couldn’t find a breakthrough and were handed a second consecutive defeat in the league.

Swansea City Under-23s: Lewis Webb, Tivonge Rushesha, Jacob Jones Azeem Abdulai (Dylan Morgan 52’), Brandon Cooper, Ben Erickson (captain, Scott Butler 45’), Sam Leverett (Jaden Forrester 87’), Daniel Williams, Tarrelle Whittaker, Yan Dhanda, Lincoln Mcfayden.

Unused subs: Nico Hansen, Harry Jones.

Cardiff City Under-23s: George Ratcliffe, Jai Semenyo (Ibrahim Bakare 80’), Joel Bagan (Joel Pritchard 61’), Taylor Jones, Ollie Denham, James Connolly (captain), Keenan Patten, Eli King, Chanka Zimba, Jack Leahy, Isaak Davies (Cian Ashford 87’).

Unused subs: Matt Turner, Ryan Kavanagh.

KOL
“We are disappointed, but again it’s groundhog day for us, three mistakes, I don’t think they touched the ball for the first three minutes, but we give the ball away and they score,” said O’Leary.

“We’ve got to be better than that and it’s something we’re collectively working on, we have to be better, we said the same last week, I think box-to-box we’ve been outstanding again today.

“We’re a possession-based side and I think we’ve dominated the ball, in the second half I think they broke away twice in 45 minutes if that. I think we’re just shooting ourselves in the foot.

“We’ve got to dig in and we’ve got to collectively stop these mistakes, individually and collectively we’ve got to help each other and it’s a work in progress.

Kris O'Leary
“We’ve got a philosophy at this club and a style of play which I think we are admired, not just across the country but further afield, for the way we do it.

“We will continue to do it, we won’t be like any other club, I really strongly believe in that, and I know the head coach does.

“I don’t want anybody feeling sorry for themselves because that’s not what’s going to help us, we have to be bigger, stronger and braver, have that desire to represent the club and every time you step out, you need to have that desire either to score or not concede.

“I think it’s only fair for the boys that if they are going to step up and be involved that they know what they’re doing and there’s some bits that are a work in progress.

“We are under no pressure to do it, it’s something different and something that we looked at and it’s enjoyable what the first team are doing and we need to get it here.

“We get a number of players going up to train with them and some players coming down to play with us so we have to have some element of what they’re going to do.”

We do seem to have taken our eye off the ball big time unfortunately as it was the other way round a few seasons ago.

Could this be "jobs for the boys" issues again? No offence at all intended to O'Leary, lovely fella but something has gone awry and as we are relying on player trading it would be a good idea to be prioritising sorting this sharpish.

Coaching has to be questioned and not just this season.
If I was looking at club to develop at Swansea, atm, wouldn't be on the list.
We have brought in some talented youngster and ones with great potential in recent years but few have blossomed and many have left having failed to make the grade.

Wasn't O'Leary in charge when the U23s were very poor before Toshack took them to new hights?

I like Kris but fear for his football future if this run of results continues.
RM won’t be happy with this either, he absolutely needs players to progress, and this season’s recruiting seemed ok. Regardless of the origins of the player. I can’t see KOL continuing unless something g changes dramatically.

The Swansea system relies on a courageous approach to development. And a courageous leader to develop it.

Can't be easy for him to try to teach his squad Russel Martin's style of football, something Martin himself has only recently managed to get looking right in senior players.

I've never really been a fan of forcing youth teams to mirror tactics. Going to be tough for lads not involved in first team training to adapt when they're getting instruction by Chinese whisper.
