I am genuinely fed up of hearing about hsitorical slavery. people focus on thinsg hundreds of years back, things any decent person knows full well were very bad. All too often we don't hear about modern day people trafficking and slavery.
We need to focus on saving people now, we cannot save people who died decades ago. It's crazy to think that there are people forced itno slavery, in Wales, right now.
Slavery exists wherever there’s power. The Romans had slaves, the vikings had slaves, the Greeks had slaves, the Egyptians had slaves, the British had slaves, the Dutch had slaves, the Spanish had slaves, the mongols had slaves, the Russians had slaves, the Japanese had slaves, the Malians had slaves, the islamic states had slaves, the Americans had slaves, the aztecs had slaves, the native Americans had slaves, the Chinese had slaves, the ottomans had slaves. Everybody had slaves.
It would be easy to prove that any race or colour or religion of people from any part of the world has been at some point both a perpetrator and a victim of slavery. Humans being shit to each other is not a new thing. Yet the way the BLM lot and most of the media act it’s as if they’ve got a monopoly on it.
It's been the modern obsession, to blame all slavery on the white European folks. In the UK there was a determined effort to suggest us Brits were the worst of the lot. It didn't matter to some on here that it was Britain that tried to stop the slave trade and that other Euro countries were doing the transatlantic trade before and after us.
If you suggested Black people perpetrated slavery too it just meant you were being a racist.

The Royal Navy patrolled the west Africa coast and freed hundreds of thousands of people from being sold into slavery. Of course we were never innocent in the whole thing either but we were doing a hell of a lot more to stop it than any other peoples on the planet. If you were to listen to Lammy or dawn Butler or Owen Jones we invented it, marketed it and cackled manically while we were doing it.
Also the country that harboured the Taliban during their exile from Afghanistan.
The world rewards them by allowing them to host the worlds biggest sporting event. An event that will use infrastructure built using almost entirely by slave labour.

It wouldn't matter that Sepp Blatter and his corrupt cronies gave the world cup to Qatar, if the footballers refused to play there it just wouldn't happen, especially so the ones that take the knee against racism every game, the words "hypocrites" springs to mind.
If I were a professional footballer, I'd play there if I had the opportunity to play in the biggest international football tournament in the world, but there again, I wouldn't be taking the knee either.

I don’t see why those taking the knee should be more willing to boycott the World Cup.

That first sentence would apply to literally every country in the world.
The second I have no issue with.
What is it we are supposed to accept? That people in history were shite to each other? That is already widely accepted.
Who do we apologise to, and what for? We weren’t even alive when all this happened. How can we be responsible for the actions of other people who lived centuries ago?
How do we determine legally what was looted and what was bought legitimately?
Reperations to be paid to who and for what reason?

Tell me who do we pay reparations to, all the victims of our slaver ancestors are dead? Do we give the money to the governments of the modern day countries, because you know, the black people in charge back then sold us slave too. Tribes used to enslave other tribes, march them to the coast and sell them to white men, to Arabs, to anyone with gold in fact.
Have you heard of Mansa Musa? Should his ancestors pay reparations too? How about the Arabs?
The criminals are long dead, their victims are long dead, it was a shameful part of world history but slavery still happens, maybe we should worry more about that that about than centuries old crimes. I forget though, you like to live in the past, 600CE man.

How far back do you think we should go? Who gets reparations exactly?
Even indigenous people existed through warfare, looting, pillaging and battling over land.
The Comanche stole Apache land quite frequently. So should we be getting indigenous people descended from the Comanche to pay people descended from the Apache?
Or was it not thought through and you just meant “anyone white give money to someone brown”?
In which case our friends Marvin Humes, Alex Scott and Ainsley Harriet proved that wouldn’t work either, because all races owned slaves…. the proceeds of ‘Can’t Cook, Won’t Cook’ won’t be going anywhere I assure you.
