2024 Presidential race 22:26 - Nov 4 with 5321 viewsDr_Parnassus

As good a time as any to start the madness and have a couple of years worth of back and forth of opinions.

My prediction last year was that Biden unfortunately will probably just win, he did. Next election I absolutely think Trump comes in for his second term, I made that clear very early on.

Not a great night for the Democrats, losing the Virginia gubernatorial election. Not great signs for them in next year's midterms or for Biden's prospects of re-election.

I also think he will be allowed to run the country free of mass interference from the media too and believe that the social warriors will be far too beaten down by 4 years of Biden/Harris to kick up much of a fuss past the initial anger that their enemy is being voted in again.

I think deep down it’s dawning on people that whether you like him as a person or not, his administration is far better than the realistic alternatives and the negatives of his Presidency (riots, violence, domestic unrest) are aspects created by the complainants and the media themselves.

The country needs economic regrowth and proper international leadership currently. It’s fair to say Biden has been a disaster on both fronts, as many assumed would be the case.

So the race for 2024 begins.

Strap in.

Indeed we do now it seems.

Apology accepted.

So you are categorically saying you didn’t promote a Trump win, before conceding Biden was more likely? Just out of interest.

By promote a Trump win, are you referring to wanting him to win… or saying that he would win?

They are very different things.

What you said was that I “confidently predicted a Trump win”.

I wanted Swansea to beat Bournemouth for example, but I made it clear I didn’t think we would and would probably lose. Is that promoting a Swansea win? Is that “confidently predicting a Swansea win”?

Don’t think it’s either is it?

With regards to the Presidential race, I maintained it was close. Said I thought Biden would win a close run thing… and thought it would be a disaster. My comments (pre election) have just been posted, complete with red circling for ease of reading, highlighting exactly that.

Clarified. You are welcome.

Here is another corker:-

After I did my mapping. I said the winner of Pennsylvania probably wins the election. If you look above just under the famous red pen you can also see I said Pennsylvania feels like it’s swinging towards Biden, suggesting I also thought Biden would win the whole thing.

I also said that despite what the polls and the democrats are saying, the popular vote will not be a % landslide either way.

………

Biden wins Pennsylvania and the election:-

In the aftermath. People scratching their heads why the popular vote wasn’t bigger:-

Not really a corker, an opinion.

here's another opinion, you are a bit too "pro Trump" for several people on here.

I've posted an opinion on here but I still wonder why you care about USA politics so much, you're not from there and don't live there.

Maybe you could give us an in depth appraisal of UK politics. Is Bojo going to win the next GE/ Is Starmer going to provide any kind of opposition?

What about devolution in Wales, success or failure?

I'm far more interested in UK politics, personally.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

He said Trump would win.
He said the election result would be overturned.

Anyone see a pattern ? 🤷‍♂️

No Trump will win in 2024 from jail.

What you mean not a corker? It was the opposite of almost every political commentator at the time, and called it spot on. Even the market price was within 10% at the start.

Not sure how you can be “too pro” something. I’m pro for whatever works, if you do a good job then I’m a pro you, if you don’t then I’m generally against you. Whether I’m from there or live there is irrelevant, I don’t live in Swansea and not from there either.

I have no interest in U.K. politics at all. I left the country because it was awful and don’t intend to return. There is infinite more chance I will live in America before I will the U.K. - in fact I’d say it’s extremely likely that will be the case in the not too distant future.

Set up a U.K. politics thread if it interests you, I’m sure you will get some willing contributors. I won’t be one though.

I didn’t say either. But whatever floats your boat.

I think I categorically said the opposite of both.

Close though Kilks.

- Proof I said Biden would win, pre election:-

-Proof I was always consistent with stating there was unlikely to be voter fraud to a level that would swing an election, corroborated by Professor:-

Hopefully we can get the myths and the trolling all out of the way on this page so the thread can get back to informed discussion.

I made many posts regarding the election, not just two. It’s a 4 year process with lots of events happening in between.

But in regards to Trump winning. I never “claimed Trump would win re-election”, no. Be that “confidently predicted” or otherwise. Never.

So that’s a lie.

I think I actually used the term ‘coin flip’ several times in the months long discussions prior. My thoughts were very consistent, very tight race, could go either way depending how the lead up went.

At one point, I may well have very briefly slightly favoured Trump, it was a tight election which is an ever moving picture depending on events. From memory, around the time of the Biden email leak is where I wavered slightly towards Trump that week. But most certainly never “confidently predicted” such a thing or even predicted it at all in fact, it’s just a fraudulent accusation as I’m sure you know.

Prior to the election, I gave Biden a 60:40 chance of winning and also suggested whoever won Pennsylvania would win the election (that was Biden).

Also at the point I picked Biden as the winner, he was among his biggest odds for over a year. He had gone from 4/11 to 4/5. So your assertion that I picked Biden “after the game looked lost” or whatever you said, was a lie.

I said I thought Biden would win prior to, and going into Election Day as I have proven with my trusty red pen.

I’ll look forward to you backing your claim that I “confidently predicted a Trump victory”, as opposed to “slightly favoured Trump at one brief point after the email scandal leaked”, which is completely different to your accusation of course.

In the meantime…. feel free to heavily amend your accusation and come back to me or provide the proof of this confident Trump victory claim.

Thanks in advance.

I totally agree with you Jim, they should spend more time sorting out their country and less time trying to sell their sorry agendas.

The person who spends the most money tends to win anyway, maybe they should just disclose their backing a month before the election proper and the top financial candidates become that party's choice.

It's as sane a thing as anything else they do.

Apologies, misunderstanding.

We won’t see any proper movement for a long time yet. This is just a discussion thread. Trump hasn’t even confirmed he is running yet, although it’s looking extremely likely.

I’m just wondering has there ever been a a favourite for President, 1 year into another political party reign, who hasn’t even confirmed he’s running? I’m going to go for no.

It’s quite remarkable.

Favourite, hmmmm. How about another angle, instead of making any of them a favourite, how about them being the least disliked?

That seems more viable to me, it's the same scenario as when Bojo beat Corbyn too, which is least useless.

It's a race to the bottom and they are neck and neck. Biden will probably lose it though, when he has to stop for a snooze.

Because that would be a case of voting out of apathy.

I don’t think there has been an appetite for a former President to run again like there is at the moment. It would be inaccurate to say he’s “least disliked”, tens of millions of people will no doubt be actively willing him to run.

Can’t really say the same about the likes of Biden. If he decided he was going to step down, I don’t think you would get even several thousand being disappointed let alone tens of millions, same goes for Kamala.

Shame those tens of millions decided to stay home when it mattered.

Biden won the popular vote with 81 million, first ever president to garner over 80 million votes. And he was a terrible candidate.

Trump had an extremely solid core base but the average American was driven away from him during his presidency rather than for him. People actively went out to vote against Trump than vote for Biden, which shows how unpopular he was to those unindoctrinated. Trump has hardly changed tact the moment he lost the election, do you think he could ever run again after his claims of 'rigged election'? Those with faith in democracy should have agreed to distance themselves from this man the moment he decided to question the pillars of modern society. In fact, telling people that elections are rigged is probably the worst strategy you could use if you want people to vote for you.

The moderate base in swing states is the key to victory for any president and Trump has lost them. Simple as that.

But they didn’t stay at home.

74 million voted for Trump. The most ever by a sitting President in history. That’s with 4 years of mainstream media and social media propaganda campaigns against him, a global pandemic and domestic Democrat rioting. Quite remarkable really.

However since then, I would say it’s almost certain that millions that voted Biden are now heavily regretting their choice, or realised that much of what they were told was just pure nonsense. Such as the border policy being racist and such like.

Not sure that’s accurate regarding people being driven away from him, in fact it isn’t.

His voting increased with Latinos, women, Hispanic, Native American and African Americans who were starting to see through the blanket of rubbish being thrown at them from everywhere, even Hollywood. The only demographic he lost ground on was white men, the ones attacked and down trodden on the daily by the media and society who were called racists and bigots for voting him, just awful stuff.

And again, I can’t remember any time in history where someone who is not even confirmed as running, is favourite to become next President only 1 year into the sitting presidents reign. That’s unprecedented.

It's early days, a lot will hinge on what comes out of the probe in to January 6th, the documents Trump is trying to prevent getting in to the hands of the various enquiry teams and the ongoing criminal probes. If he can litigate and win those cases and keep things confidential, he’s in with a fighting chance. If he loses and the documents are damning, he may struggle.

Trump lost the popular vote by seven million people. Twice the population of Wales and then some, as the incumbent!. He barely squeaked in past Clinton, the most unpopular runner in history (hyperbole), I heavily doubt the Dems will put up a worse candidate than the previous two.

The most notable things Trump has done in the eyes of the average citizen since the election is called it rigged and contributed to January 6th. The repubs are desperate to rebuild their image as the 'grown ups in the room' instead of whatever Trump was. He won't be anywhere near the democratic process come 2024
