His own party members voting against sensible decisions, so that the companies they have stakes in can make more money, but not giving a damn about people's safety or lives. So the opposition has to help Rubber Jonny put restrictions in place. A shambles. He, and they, have been found out big time. Let's um, let the peasants catch it , um, um, we should do something, but, um, my colleagues won't back me, um, er, that's how it is, um, oh well, it doesn't matter, um, how are my shares, um, er. Ooh, I have to go, we have a party shortly. Tally Ho.

He had totally ignored the science. On average just two rugby matched and two football matches will have crowds over 4,000 in a any week. Currently you have to have a vaccine passport to gain entry. Meanwhile around a million people in Wales will shop indoors at all the various venues including pubs, restaurants. Of that approximately 100,000 will be unvaccinated. Clearly the small numbers at sports events will have no impact compared to huge numbers meeting indoors shopping etc. |
I had my jabs and the booster so I could carry on with my life. Now, after months of following rules, wearing masks, distancing, I have part of my life removed again in what seems like a fairly pointless measure. This will spread in supermarkets, in pubs, in family get togethers. Unless Omicron will kill as many or even more than Delta, unless it'll put more in hospital, then this isn't needed. Everything I'm seeing says Omicron isn't as bad as previous variants. Maybe I've just had enough!

Meanwhile Drakeford plays to the gallery and ignores the science. What was the point of the vaccinations and booster when Drakeford allows the unvaccinated to walk around freely in Wales catching and spreading the virus. If Drakeford had locked down the unvaccinated it would do 100 times more good than stopping vaccinated people going to outdoor sports events.

And that's the point. The indecision is what is killing business. People are voting with their feet to avoid infection. Either formalise restrictions and support business or leave it and seriously risk public health (and subsequently business). Reaping mistakes and lack of preparedness since the summer. Whole decision based on who leads the party, not economic or public good. [Post edited 21 Dec 2021 10:05]

Felix-Honestly locking down 'unvaccinated' would have little or no effect. Whether one agrees with WAG decisions or not, and I am unconvinced about the sport behind closed doors (though it's not just about the game itself), at least a decision is made and funds are available to the clubs/teams affected. The limbo in England does no one any favours.

Looking down unvaccinated would certainly have more far more effect than stopping a few football matches. If Drakeford thought omicron was out of control he should have shut down all shopping other than food now. Of course that would cause outrage and lose with thousands of votes. Instead he imposes a meaningless ban on a few thousand fully vaccinated attending an outdoor event

He doesn’t care about votes. He’s only a few months into his term, will probably step down before the next election and he knows that all the idiots will vote Labour anyway.

Then why does he not do something that might actually stop the spread of the virus locking down the unvaccinated who are catching and spreading the virus while the rest of us who are fully vaccinated and boosted can chose for ourselves what we are and are not allowed to do. By Friday another 250,000 people will have had another dose of the vaccine. The unvaccinated have had ample opportunity to get vaccinated health policy in Wales should be for the benefit of the vaccinated not the unvaccinated.

How do you stop the spread of a highly transmissible virus? We went the best part of a year with nearly everything shut, everyone told to stay home. When it came to lockdowns we were in and out like we were doing the Hokey Cokey. But it still spread like wildfire. These lockdowns and restrictions have created huge mental health issues, financial ruin for many and have stolen two years of our incredibly short time on this planet and counting. Yet we are seemingly back to square one where the response seems to be to do exactly what didn’t work the other several times we tried it. More lockdowns and restrictions.

Nearly 2 years ago we had the Cheltenham racing festival, an out door event that attracted 250,000 people and allowed Covid to spread rapidly. Why’s hasn’t Boris introduced legislation to ban the unvaccinated, he’s not listening to SAGE and is only concerned about his hold on power in the Conservative Party. Over a 100 MP’s in his own party defied him last week. The Prof is right about supporting business through this, a lot people are going to walk with their feet and won’t be going to pubs etc, without support they face ruin. Drakers is allegedly doing this.
